Hey guys, I'm switching over to Alpha engines to accommodate my sponsor, so pm me if you're interested in picking up my A52 modded by Lance with less than a gallon thru it. I'll make you a smokin deal! You might also convince me to part with my almost-new modded A5. Lol!!

I have a brand new never mounted a52 in the for sale section if anyone is interested. Had a few pm's for it but no cash yet so still available.

hi all has anyone run a Moded Argus A5 engine.. with crank and sleeve done.. was thinking that id send it over to a modder to see what can be achieved...

my guss would be a smoother power band with a punchy bottom that doesnt really need to be altered.... mabe more top to match the bottom end..

I'm surprised you would want more top end from that engine especially in such a light car like the JQ. What pipe are you running? The A-Plus 0801 and Alpha 2081 are suppose to be killer pipes on the Argus. Also what CB ratio are you running? There are many things you can do to increase your top end speed.

If you mod it, shipping it overseas and then shipping back might not make it worth your while for a $180 engine. Maybe sell it and then just buy a modded one from overseas. Or try get it modded locally? You have many options I guess.

Also if you are racing at Liverpool (which is the only track in Sydney) then bottom end is your friend. I can't see anywhere on that track with its current layout that even a $100 .21 wouldn't have enough top end to cover its one very short straight.

By the way I'm assuming you are running the A52 (which has now been replaced by the B52). I think the new addition to the Argus line the A5 doesn't have as much power as the A52 or B52.

rcgeezer has a modded A5 and D52. Both are really strong motors and run well. The D52 is just a beast! It will more than likely be a little too much in THE CAR. I also run JQ and a stock A5 with 0801 pipe. It has plenty of power wherever you need it. It actually has a little much for my liking on the bottom. I am going to try the SH 3033 pipe to try and tame the bottom a little. With THE CAR, you really don't need all that power. If I were to get a modded motor, it would only to smooth out the bottom of the A5 more than what it is. Hope this helps.

yeah it would be a local modder.. , sounds like the option is to enjoy what it has stock.. or like you said revooo ... smooth the bottom a bit.. Thanks for the info guys..

id probably be running the 2072 EFRA ive got on my MG66... see how that handles..

You can also try the 2090 pipe. With the adjustable stingers you can smooth out the bottom pretty nice. I've been running the 0801 on both mine, but for my truggy the bottom end is a good thing. I have a 2090 on the way which I'll test on the Argus, and then on my new Alpha. If anyone wants a sweet deal pm me, I'm letting my modded A52 go for $105 shipped!! Revoooo, you should get this for a back-up engine :nod: It screams!!

You're getting a 2090!!! Lucky. I wanted one but Lance has been out of stock for a while. And now he has taken them off of the website. I would love to pick the the A52 from you, but I picked up two of the A5's. My wife would kill me right now if I picked up another motor. Plus the extra cash I just spent trying to make sure I have everything for Nitro Challenge!!! I would be a dead man for sure. :p

The B52 with Alpha 2090 in buggy is awesome, yes it does smooth out the power low down somewhat, and truggy with aplus 0801 for me. The legendary bottom end grunt with kick ass top end what more could you want. I have only run the A5 in buggy but it is as quick as the A52 at our track. Nice bottom end power and all the top you need:nod:

since i first started running the A52, these motors have taught me to drive better. By being smoother on the throttle, especially on rough sections, you are quicker. And its always nice to have that little bit extra there when you need it;)

You guys crack me up...maybe I should just start a back-up engine program for fellow racers!:nod:

Revooo, he now sells them through the TritonRC site. RcRenew.com will shortly become primarily a service-oriented site, with most product sales going through TritonRC.com. Check out his new site if you haven't already done so.

So happy with the performance of my Argus that even though it only has a couple gals on it I'm picking up another. A few prior posts mentioned a possible limit on availability that I don't want to chance it.

Herrsavage 02-08-2012 01:07 PM

I feel the same way.. Whatever changes there have been with the distributors, etc.., the A52 is a ripper and still very much worth having.. I'd have another...
