The D52 story...

Ok, so I now have 6 tanks through this D52 and it's already blowing my hair back!! The thing would sit on the box and idle through the whole tank if you let it. I'm just now beginning to turn some needles on it, and at 1/2 throttle it's already wicked fast!! So far it's hands down faster than my A5, but that's what I expected. What's also amazing is how consistantly it drops back down to a smooth idle quickly. I'm breaking it in on the street, and it's hard to grab any quick throttle and not pull a major wheelie.:nod: I'll put a few more tanks through tomorrow and continue to lean it out for some speed. Then it's race time this Saturday...can't wait!!;)

Revooooo, hope you get your A5 in time to break it in for Saturday racing. See you there.

LOL. I just got them today. :sneaky: Lance was crazy quick with the shipping. I will try to break in one of them tomorrow at least. Hopefully I will get the chance before Saturday. I should be there.

3 gals in. Lots of compression. Still using heat gun to start. Had to seal top end needle but otherwise no problems. Easy to tune. Dropped to #7 restrictor and am right at 10 min. Outside temps are fluctuating by up to 40 deg which makes dialing in the perfect tune a challenge. The A52 is a sweet lil engine and will move to the D52 when the time comes. Thanks again to JJenkins at AtoZ for a great product and support.

Will anyone be picking up as an Argus distributor in the USA?

Argus sells directly to dealers and undercuts its distributors, so i doubt it.

Interesting. I'm getting 10 min easy on my A52 with the stock 8mm insert. With only 1/2 gal thru my A5 and set conservatively rich it's doing 9 min easy with the stock 8mm. This will only improve as it wears in and I seriously race tune it.

Well The US Distributor stopped importing, so they had a reason to sell direct. Argus are good engines, They are Green head Alpha clones (not saying that in a bad way because Alphas are really good engines) But Argus Raised there prices A lot, to an unrealistic amount and raised there map pricing to a very high price. Now the engines are really not worth importing, And im sure thats why AtoZ stopped. And I am on the fence as well. ITs too bad but it is what it is. ITs not AtoZ's fault or anyone elses that Argus decided to raise their prices. But your right good luck finding anyone to import them, its just not worth it.

9 tanks now thru this D52, and it's easily the fastest engine I've ever run! Can't wait to get it on the dirt. One thing I failed to mention...when you get one if these engines the very first thing you'll want to do is throw away the "t3" plug that comes in the engine and replace it with a Werks #5 plug. Makes all the difference in how it runs. As you can tell, I'm very impressed and pleased with these engines!!

Cool. The two D52's I've seen didn't come with glow plugs tho.

Lance sorry to hear that. I hope the increase doesn't push them into those high end engines kind of territory. People would probably buy the high end engines instead. Who knows right? The Argus are pretty good engines it seems.

Yea, well I think they got ahead of themselves. And raising importer pricing as well as retail, I think that just ruined them. No ones going to want to import those thing now.

Oh well, they are copies of Alphas, so since there is no low cost benefit anymore might as well get an Alpha.

Too bad for Jonathan who put a lot of effort into promoting them, he did a great job.

map price .. you mean the factory price..? ive been speaking to a friend of mine and the prices given for argus here at retail eg B52 is 230AUD and for the A5 its 173AUD , still in the budget price.. not yet a OS price tag but still close to what GO engines go for.. import price is still fairly ok ive been told depending on qty bought as he mentioned, what was the price for them before?? , 150 or..?

hdcruzer 01-27-2012 02:27 PM

So Lance how much longer before you quit selling the Argus? Dpendabilty wise it was the best engine Ive ever owned. I have 9 gallons on one with just a psr replacement and over 5 on the one you modded and still running strong...... The most I ever got out of a Alpha was 5 and no more than 4 out of a Werks....

Im not going to get into Dealers ricing on this forum. But they want us in the us to sell them for more than the prices you quoted.
