Got my first shipment of engines in yesterday and they look very good. I am excited to be selling them in 2011. Thanks to everyone at Argus USA for adding Pressley Racing Products as a dealer!

what are the carbs like? do i need to just use an RB/Novarossi/OS carb straight away?

So far we have had no issues with the factory carbs. They tune very easily and hold a tune well .

No reason to try any other carbs. They tune easily and hold a tune very well. They have double o rings on the needles. I have not seen one issue with them. If you decide to try the Argus, let us know what you think....I think you will be more than happy.

You will have to bring one out to the swap meet. I would like to take a look at one!

Looking forward to hearing your results and thoughts. It must be nice breakin a motor in living in AZ. I think my motor might be scared of the heat when summer comes. It has not got to see over 40 deg yet. It will be asking for sunscreen when it hits 70. LOL

Been making the upper spots in the B all season, but because of bad luck and some crappy driving havnt made it to an A yet. Maybe this will be the weekend. Ill keep you guys posted.....

I just got done breaking mine in. I used the heat cycle method. Very Simple. After 5 tanks it almost has a race tune on it. From the stock settings, from which it will start right up on if you warm it up to about 200 degress. Buy the 5 th tank still running on the fat side, alls I had to do was lean the LSN 2 hrs and the HSN a touch more than 2 hrs. Another little tip before you even put any gas in it or the plug, heat it up good and give it about 3-4 5 sec blasts on the box. Makes break in alot more simple. Just for those of you buying these this motor it is the real deal. Ive run v-specs,B5s, and Alphas. This motor is in my is opinion better than all of them. It has a very stong smooth bottom, good mid, and youll never see the full top unless you have a 200 to 300 foot straight away. I swore buy my Alpha S852, but I dont know anymore. So support your dealers and buy one...... Lets get these to the tracks and race with them. I personally think this is a real winner....

Man, I dont know if I like the idea of turning it over dry on the box like that. I tore mine down to clean it out and pressure tested the carb first. Then I made sure I used a good amount of oil on reassembly and primed the carb before I even thought about turning it over. I idled 2 tanks, ran 2 tanks under load and 4 using wot meathod. Always making sure the temp never got below 200. Then tore it down to clean it again. I started bench tuning, but leaving it rich and again never going below 200 degrees. I still have mechanical pinch and im planning on changing the rod after about 2 gallons.

There not dry. They use motor assembly grease just like you use on a car motor. I did my Alpha this way and it lasted 6 gallons before the piston let go some of the alphas have a problem with rod pin loosening up. You still have mechanical pinch, not good, if you break them in the way I did most your mechanical pinch is gone buy the 5th tank. Dont get me wrong I still have enough pinch to push the sleeve out of the block, but not enough pinch to lock the flywheel up on the box. Pinch is not good. Thats what blows rods or at least in my experiences. Youll also find out that your compression will stay higher and last longer the sooner you get rid of the pinch. About the rod I wouldnt worry about changing it after 2 gallons. Same rod the Alpha uses and they will out last the cranks, ask me how I know. The tip on the blasts on the box wasnt somthing I just did it was suggested to me buy one of the pros and Ive done it with all my tight pinch motors and have never blown a rod yet. The hardest thing on a new rod is letting it sit there and idle. And most pros reccomend against the WOT method unless your in a pinch and need a motor to race right now. They say that is the hardest thing on a rod you can do. But this is just the way I do it and have had good luck, im sure all the other ways to do it are just as good or even better. But I quit using the idle on the box at 200 degree method after I couldnt keep a rod in a motor for more than 3 gallons.

I still have pinch because I used WOT meathod. It doesnt have nearly the amount that it did when it was new. You are correct, pinch isnt good but the slower you break it in, the longer it will last. They do come with that grease, but I always found it better to clean it out before doing anything, just incase there is any debris left from the factory. I just dont like the idea of turning it over on the box to make it easier to break it. Seems to me like it would wear the sleeve prematurely with little lubrication. Weather its argus, alpha or go, these engines always seem like it takes about a gallon and a half to fully break in. Ive seen them break in fully on the track and they fatten up around a full turn on the top. I would rather take the time to break in in fully to avoid this durring a 30 min main.
