Thanks man!! I just read a little bit of page one... What a great source of information!!!! So after reading i believe i am experiencing the fake idle gap tht was explained in the first few paragraphs. I basically have cause my hsn to compensate for all the richness of my lsn. Thus in turn causing my engine to run hot and all the smoke. I am running to the park mow to try and lean in my lsn and adjust my idle gap. Wow what a pain when one loses tune!!

Back from the field.... So i was way off with my lsn. I ended up turning it 2 full rotations so now it sits flush with the carb. I then tried running my engine from a full tank all the way to empty; i could do this but i was worried that the low idle would stall the engine. It did! So i continued to lean the lsn and i adjusted the idle gap. My idle gap is now .5mm wide (maybe less), and i still seems to idle low. I can do high speed runs and when i being the car back in; it will immediately go to a low idle but will then sputter and stall after 2-3 seconds. I then tried to open my idle gap up again and see if i could increase the RPm... No such luck. Any thoughts guys?

Try a new plug. Pay attention to the HSN that it isn't too lean after you leaned the bottom.

Pop off the airfilter and make sure the idle gap is back at about .5 or .6 mm. RE-start and make sure it's getting up to temp before you try to tune again. Do a few WOT passes, then bring it in and let the engine idle for a few seconds. listen to it..If it's bogging down and acting like it wants to stall, lean the LSN in 1 hour. Do a couple more WOT passes, bring it in ..listen, lean 1 hour ... Keep doing this until you have a nice crisp take off.... you want rpms to fall to a steady idle after WOT with temps gradually comming down every few seconds as it idles. Like mentioned before, you'll know you've leaned the LSN too much when RPM's increase as it idles. If you find you need to slightly tweek the idle, make sure you have adjusted the fuel FIRST..then you can increase or decrease the idle, although a .5mm gap should be pretty close. I hope this helps a little..

Ok guys i almost have my engine tuned. I can keep it running and am nearly close to getting the idle correct. Problem now is; it's eating bearings from tank to tank. Any recomendations? I have a good amount of play to compensate for the backlash of the engagment from the clutch engaging, but now i can't even tune my engine because its eating bearings!!

IS having a .5mm idle with or without the venturi in, the gap is larger if the venturi is out

it worked great for me:

thanks to WERKS for posting this method
I used the 'Werks' break-in method to break in a new Werks b5 pro.
first 2 litres all went well, however,by screwing the tuning needles so far from std posn ,several of the 'o rings' broke.
IMO if you intend to use this method, get an 'o-ring' kit with youre new motor, and if its a Werks, you may need the 'O-Ring fitting kit' for the Traxus to get them on.

Can someone help me out with getting rid of my 2 stage idle. I have got about 2.5 ltrs through my clocked b6 and was wondering if I should be getting my idle gap down to 0.5ml and then leaning my hsn to get a proper idle. The only problem is when I lean the Lsn I get a machine gun idle before it drops. Any thoughts. Hsn is about flush.
