I wish!!! I had surgery yesterday so I am out of commission for a few weeks!! One of these days I will meet up with ya man. I actually ran the 2084 pipe on my B10 last weekend after seeing people on your thread hype it up and I gota say the pipe is one bad mofo and still gets good mileage!!!

lets get simple green setup with an engine , get what is supported in your area is a good idea:nod:

good luck simple

hope recovery goes well Chris :D

I would love to be able to drop $400 and get ether a RB X10 or B10 but I don't have that kind of money so as of now I am thinking of getting the O.S .21xz-b when it comes out or try like the killer10 (Chris pitch in on this what do you think of it?)
I know I would like the O.S but lifetime is the only thing stopping me.
and with RB always comes harder tuning up here.

this in not something I will be getting next week it will be sometime before the start of nitro next year I just want to look into some engines and not just jump on some random engine that looks cool at the time..

Yea the engine supported in your area is definitely a good idea, they will have an idea where to help you. Parts when needed etc.

Lots of good engines for sure I've tried A LOT of engines this year for being a non sponsored driver anyway. All great performing engines. Did a lot of learning and breaking this year too (No not breaking in but breaking )

inferno13 09-24-2010 08:45 PM

ive been doing some research on a new engine line for next year also, so i have been reading posts here. this year i ran OS .21 v-spec and nova plus4 and GO .21, not real impressed with OS , GO and NOVAROSSI plus4 where forsure my favorites. but want to try somthing differnt for next year, so ill keep readin as this thread gets longer:nod:

Simplegreen go with whats popular in your area. That way you can learn from the other guy's who have been there with what you already have.

If tunning is an issue in your area take a good look at O.S. it's probably one of the easiest engines to tune.

To thoes of you who dislike the vspec. Don't turn your back on O.S. just yet. They are setting a new standard with these engines as the new xz-b and the xz-r come with a crank shaft that is identical to the 9 port JP Egale. Which is hands down the best on road engine money can buy.

What work has to be done to the B5? Because Kortz, Battaile, Denton as well as myslef all run the SAME box stock engines. No work done there.

I was reffering to it smoking a speed.

Even so go over to, www.clockworkracingengines.com
and Neals Clocked B5 is $300, that is still cheaper than the 'box stock speed' by a long shot!

Not knocking the Os engines i used to run them, they are great motors, but after running a clocked motor i will not put anything else in my cars!

I am looking forward to seeing the difference in the new speed though, from what i hear they are pretty darn good!:sneaky:

Maximo 09-25-2010 05:36 AM

stock vs stock the OS Speed is no faster then a B5.......they dyno about the same numbers...The B5 has a little more grunt down low, the B5 gets better mileage and they are both easy to tune, tho the Speed is slightly smoother.... pretty close stock vs stock in terms of performance....plenty of stock .21's will match the Speed in terms of performance IMO...I have the benefit of being able to run many of the popular engines back to back and I don't see where all the hype comes from.... Run one of my modified B5's or JPX then run a Speed and see which one leaves an impression !

This is what you want to ask yourself.

"Do i want to run and have a peace of mind...focus on track and car setup than chasing that tune all day?"

I've tried several engines but none of them tuned like an OS does. Yes almost all of them can be tuned right but small changes on weather/plug/pressure line/clutch bearings/... will get it to flame out. OS seams to hang in there longer and won't flame out that easily.

I still have RBs and Sirios and Novarossis and ... that have way more compression than the OS but won't run as reliable as the OS does.

In the end i personally prefer to have an engine that allows me to play/drive and have fun than an engine that will in theory last longer and spend almost half that time if not more in the pits with a screwdriver tuning it. I've been there and won't do it again...wasn't fun at all.:flaming::flaming:

OS!!!

I don't buy that at all.... You cannot tune your OS any better then I can tune my Picco's or Werk's......you cannot make your OS hold its tune any better then my engines hold a tune....... I run a OS Ninja side by side with my other engines and its does nothing the other engines don't do........My company has had great success with many brands of engines, OS included...but we don't find the OS to be any different then the others...Heck we took second place pro Buggy at the Canadian Winter nationals using a modified V-Spec..... Its all in knowing the right setups to use for each engine, which for OS is very easy..OS plug, OS pipe and your done... But every engine will run reliable and not flame out if its tuned and setup properly, just like every engine will flame out and be unreliable if its setup incorrectly, OS included........Give me any of todays decent .21's and I'll out tune almost anyone with any OS engine...there is no magic with any of these engines, it all comes back to setup and user skill......I have been playing with nitro engines since the mid eighties and after over 25 years of tuning Nitro's I don't find any magic in any of the brands.....

I run a B5 in a 2.0 and a Speed in a 6B and there is no comparison. I have swapped them out for each other as well. The OS takes the win all day.

Your post makes no sense to me, Im not flamming you. You say stock V.S stock there is no comparison (or about the same) in the underlined part but then you say to compare a moded B5 or Jammin to a stock Speed. Well, I have a moded JPX and a Moded Speed and there is still no comparison.
