I know there are probably a bunch of threads like this but I will start this anyway as I could not find one, I think this could help allot of people decide on an engine if we can get some good info in here, so the engines I am trying to decide on to run in my buggy next year are,

RB Killer-10,

Werks B6,

Novarossi-S21P5XLT-21,

O.S .21xz-b (not out yet but it is the replacement for the v spec)

I would run Axe Rossi.

well you could go with any of them but out of those would say the new os xz-b would be way to go
if get nova the plus 4 team is the best one and one of if not the best motor out right now
werks is good for the price but not on par with nova or os rb r good but no mileage at all
if money is tight you can get the older speed with aluminum head for around 280-300 off ebay brand new and will have a smokin mill all are good just dpends on what you like os speeds r so smooth plus 4 gets good mileage
either of those can not go wrong

Don't sleep on the Novarossi P5XLT. I run one in my MBX6T with a Dynamite 086 and it is bad azz!

Plus 4 would be the IDEAL novarossi in my opinion for a buggy. The p5 is a great motor, I would say more geared toward a truggy then buggy. I have however seen multiple people run it in buggy with great success.

I have not tried the new Vspec but you could alway settle for the old one which is now avaible from a few places for $200 which at that price is a steal. You won't find a better motor at that price. It has just as much if not more power then a plus 4 but not close to as smooth or as good on gas mileage as the plus 4 when I used it.

I have not tried a B6, do not plan on it, haven't seen one that has made me want to get one yet. Not saying it is a bad motor, just haven't tried it.

RB Shark - Have not tried it, nothing to say about that motor.


The new vspec I am sure will be great, but again have not tried it. I do plan on getting some new OS Speeds for next season, we'll see how that goes.

Simple answer: Buy the one that fits your budget and the level you want to compete at. Best bet is to buy one that someone else (that you can financially hang with) runs at your track so they can help you with it. You can compete and win races with any of those engines.

RB B10 lots of power. Idles great and very reliable.

I have the RB K9, I don't know how much different the K10 is. It's fast and gets good run time, but it's no Novarossi. It doesn't hold a tune near as well and doesn't get as good of run time compared to the +4.

The P5 is probably a little too much motor for a buggy, I'd go with the +4 over it. It's a smoother motor and gets better run times. I run the +4 in my truggy and the K9 in my buggy right now. The K9 will soon be replaced with a Nova though.

I've heard great things about the Werks motors, but have never owned one so I can't comment.

For the money the go engines are hard to beat. You can get a 5 port gxr on ebay for 175 right now with a tuned pipe. That engine screams and is about half the price of the competition with better specs than most. Normally that setup goes for around $300 for the engine and pipe. I run a 7 port in my buggy and a 3 port in my truggy, and both engines are a handful in terms of power. You simply will not find more power for less money, that i can guarantee.

Another consideration: A lot of engines work well for the first 2 gallons. So, you get a lot of those "HEY! ______ Engine is SOOO SMOOTH, GREAT POWERBAND, DIALED!!!!" comments for nearly any engine. What you want is an engine that still runs well 6,7,8 gallons in. Those are the ones that have the best value in the long run.

I agree completely on both of those posts as far as my budget its not very big as far as lasting7-8 gallons That is what I want,
Novarossi has a history of lasting long as well as RB (very similar engines most rb are nova based) O.S has a bad record of not lasting as well as Werks.
BUT engine life and performance also depends hugely on care you can take an amazing engine break it in poorly don't tune it well overheat it don't maintain it suck some dirt in there and all of a sudden.. your engine craps on you at 3 gallons. Were if you break it in properly tune it well maintain it and treat it good it will last for 8-9 gallons.

RB k9 k10 and sport 10 are the only RB,s that are not nova based.
