Well the shootout begins this weekend. Clocked B5 vs Answer-rc clutch. Can they live in harmony on our slippery pennsylvania tracks? I certainly hope so since Mike from Answer has been a wonderful sponsor and good friend (plus i race with him every week), lol. I will have a full report after a day of thrashing this weekend. Looking forward to running the B5.

FYI that video is only tank #2... technically that engine never ever had a breakin.... I idled tank #1, then threw it on the ground and started shooting video..... The engine was hand lapped, but it still went thru a breakin period and dropped its nuts at about 1/2 gallon.... I would say that video is showing about 90% of bottom end and about 80% of top end.... Once fully broken in and dialed the engine's performance increased noticeably....

Back from the track after the maiden voyage with the clocked B5. My only regret is that i was so damn busy helping eveybody else that i wasn't able to get a timed mileage run to empty. I warmed it up good with it being still on the rich side, topped it off with fuel and in 3 hot laps it destroyed the rear r&p, bearings and diff case. While rebuilding all that i was tuning other engines so it took a while. I thought it was running well but it had a slight flat spot on the bottom. A call to Neal and the engine came back off for a clutch spring change. A little better. Then i figured out it had a rich botton and lean top. Holy shit! Major change. Very well mannered engine, but i had to relearn my truggy. No more blasting the throttle outta corners to clear a jump since that made the truck so slow from wheelspin. Easing up to half throttle up to the face of the jump made overshooting it very easy. Getting on the throttle for the front straight was short and sweet or you would carry too much speed at the end of the straight, even for lost creeks high speed turn. I couldn't get it outta the hole under full throttle, it went everywhere but straight. Excellent engine driven properly. If you're a throttle jockey it's gonna make an ass outta ya. It's so powerful yet so linear i believe i could run it in my buggy with a steel flywheel and alot of trigger control. Great job Neal.

Raced my Cold Fusion-powered Clocked B5 this weekend for the first time, and all I can say is WOW!! This engine is like no other I've ever driven and the power is insane! I qualified 5th overall in Sportsman Truggy which was really good for me, as I haven't raced for about 2 months due to family commitments. One thing that gets lost when we all talk about the power of Neal's engines is how smooth they are and how much that make you a better driver. Knowing that the power is there when you need it really helped me not over-drive my truck, and my lap times were the best they have ever been! I was unfortunately knocked out of the A main while running 2nd about 10 minutes into the race with a disintegrated front wheel bearing. Even so, I had a great weekend of racing and I'm excited to be part of the Clockwork Racing Team! :nod::nod:

VERY well stated my friend. Clockwork engines were instrumental for improving my driving. My lap times are the lowest they've been..at our last big club race, I was the only driver with my top 20 laps under 40 seconds running my Clocked B5 powered RC8T.
It's also nice to know that my engine is going to run, and run right, so that I could focus on my setup come race day. It's also nice to know that if I do have a 'tuning' issue, it's not likely my engine, it's something else ( clutch, CB bearings etc. etc. ), that's how reliable Clockwork engines/service have been to me:nod: I'm a customer for life..Just like Hitec will be the only servos I will spend my $$$ on because of their stellar performance and FANTASTIC service. |

James, got my modified parts today and got it running tonight with a new clutch, bell and pins. What a nasty sounding engine. Took a 5 min. run thru the grass out back to help the clutch break-in. Stood on it a few times and knew right away i was dealing with a different animal. If my answer shoes and bell lasts 2-3 race days i'll be a happy camper. We have Lost Creek Raceway all to ourselves for practice tomorrow. I'm gonna run the balls off it. Some of the locals have some stout engines but they gonna poop their pants over this one!

I wouldnt even think about running anything other than the M2C clutch on the JPX or the B5. Once you try the M2C you will see the difference with Neal's engine Rob. No need for a retraction of anything bro. I didnt realize you were running the Losi style shoes and bells. I would think they are similar to the M2C stuff. I have been loving Answer's 3 shoe setup. It is smooth and was punchy enough for me with all the stock engines I ran. I never ran the losi style 4 shoe because I dont run Losi. I hope it works well for you. The prices we get from Answer as team drivers is more than worth the effort and Mike's such a good dude I would buy everything from him if I could.There's just some people I enjoy giving my money to you know?

Well said James, and I totally agree with you! Even though I've switched over to a 4 shoe system on this engine I'll continue to run Answer clutch bells, bearings, and anything else made by them that I can. It's not often you find a company that not only treats you well but has superior products...wow, we're now 2 for 2 James...who'd have thunk it?? We must be doing something right. :nod::nod:
