I actually did it in the kitchen I didn't notice any odor around the house unless I was standing over the pot I had the lid on the entire time
Wow! That was stupid....

Thumbs up

Wow!! Engine coolant in a crockpot! How did anyone think of this? I'm an authomotive technician and would never have thought of this. My wife had an old crockpot (fairly big too) and I had jugs of Dexcool orange long life coolant. Some of the thicker stuff took over 24 hrs, but it was easy!! All the hard to reach spots and everything. Thanks guys. And to think all the pipes I wrecked with scotch brite pads!!!

My new OS pipes haven't been cleaned yet, but rest assured they will be cleaned without any scratches. MUHAHAHAHA.

Would you mind posting some before and after photos? I'm thinking about doing this, but I'd like to see the results before I go out and by a crockpot and coolant.

A way I have found to clean chrome pipe's is so. Leave to soak for around a hour-whenever your ready.. in hot boiling water.. then after that. Put into a bowl-container.. fill it up a few cm with Cif-Jif.. same thing.. or equiv.. and let soak for 30 or less.. doesn't matter mins with boiling water. Then, I use the rougher side of those 2 sided dish cleaning pads/sponges.. and work it... -It does take away some of the shine-Granted.. and after that.. rinse throughly.. then if have time use some autosil-for cleaning chrome.. and Bammm good as new.
I dont have the £ ect to get a crock pot here in the uk.. and find my way just a easy.. and doesn't need to take hours..

Finally found a crock pot at Goodwill for 5.99, and gave it a try. It works better than I would have guessed. I only left them in there for about 6 hours. Next time I think I will leave them longer and get all the junk out of my 3 year old Ninja pipe. A lot came out this time but i can still see some in there.

I saw the post asking for pics a few minutes after I put them in otherwise I would have done it. Next time I clean them I will snap some shots.

Dang. I just did this and it works amazing. I left them in on high for 8 hours and viola looks brand new again. One of the pipes has never been cleaned in nearly 2 years and everything and I mean everything came off.

Sorry didnt take before pics. I wish I would have cause it worked awesome
