How come the Elite engines are so well priced? I keep hearing and seeing great things about them, is it really because they are made with old stock?

The elite 5 is the P5 XLS, It not as good as the Keep off 4S, The Legends 4 is the Keep off 4S.

I tried the Elite 5, and didn't like it compared to my Keep-off 4S. It had no top end, and I barely made it through break in before selling it. If I order another motor it'd be the Rex Legend 4 - It's a Keep off for $100+ less.

The 4 port has no more top end then the Elite 5........ If you guys are all using the blue 6.5 insert in the carb all the engines are going to struggle on the top end... 9901/41021 is also going to take away some top end as well......... in the end its going to come back to setup..a Elite 5 on a 6.5 mm insert 9901/21021 isn't going to have much top end, however changeover to a 8 mm insert and a 9853/41001 combo and the engine is going to scream comparatively.... The fastest way to kill the top end is to run a small carb insert !
Haven't ran my Elite 5 yet, but I've got a p5 and x5 and the 2096/41021 combo with a 7mm venturi completely smothered the life out of both of those engines. Went back to the 053 w/ 8mm venturi and it's a night and day difference. Even the 7.5mm insert doesn't seem to sacrifice much top end... jury's still out on the run time vs. the 8mm though. |
My favorite insert is a 7.5mm. Its got great bottom mid top and a little better mileage than an 8mm. 8mm most situations decreases your traction because of the sheer power output/wheel spin, it's too much of a handful. If you like to drive the car run a 7.5, if you like the car to drive you run an 8. On anything but super high traction 7.5 is the greatest of all worlds.

i feel the same about the 7mm... :-)

I run a pre-ss 9886 and Long square Nova Header on a Crono RS5 (P5). How would it change with a 2096/41021 or 9853/41001?

Didn't care for 2096 in my mbx7t. But a lot of people like it for buggy, its pretty smooth from top to bottom and gets decent mileage. Probably best on a low bite track. 9853/41001 is my favorite for the p5 so far. It's known for it's low end and mid range grunt, but even with a p5 in my truggy it doesn't lack any top end at all. Kept up with all the fast guys the other week on the straights no problem... its the turns that get me :o:lol: |
