I should add that I have seen crankpin wear from dirt, shoe polish.... metal polish, chrome polish..lapping compound ( not mine obviously ) ....... Multiple times I have seen crankpins worn down before the engines were ever even fired....I guess guys decided to try using an abrasive compound and a drill to speed up the breakin...Needless to say the results weren't very good !

I have never seen crankpin wear issues with Byron's 30/11 !
Just figured i would put that out there for Byrons guys supporting this blend |
Has any tried using dirt bike air filter oil? If so, which brand?

I use motul and belray... There both Good!!! Just use a rag to clean the excess

I've been running Belray for over a decade. Great stuff.

Yeah I've leaned it (hsn) & lsn on the last tank of run in I drove around at 1/3 throttle when I went to give it a little bit more it just died no high rev b4 it just died so I leaned it a bit a bit more a bit more don't want to go too far tho funny thing is when it dies it starts straight back up no worries, man it's got me beat think I should maybe check the piston perhaps

still sounds too rich...what fuel % are you using ?

I've been running moonshine brew for the last 6 years now (no broken conrods but two broken cranks  (awfull STS and a nice Nosram)... and shortened lifespan on bearings when I ran pure synth oil). I found (thanks Monty and Novarossi) that you need approx. 3% castor in the fuel to get a good lifespan and no premature wear on engines.
I'll start running Byron again. For me, the Race 25/11 is great for practise, for drivers that whats a really long lifespan on their engines or for drivers that runs their engines too lean = too much oil. The Pro 25/9 is great for racing but your engine doesn't last as long as with 25/11. As Neal told me, you don't need to lean your engine as much to get it run clean with low oil percent as you do with higher oil percent fuel. I'll mix Pro and Race 50/50 to get the best of both fuels  |
Has anybody here had any experience with the new Clio p5? I'm thinking about switching from O.S back to nova and thought I might give it a try

I just recently switched from Byrons 30/9 to 30/8 race blend. I've been told the the 30/8 uses a different type of oil and actually lubricates better then 30/9. Can anyone alaborate on this?
