Hello,

I am running a P5 with a C6 plug. My problem is priming the tank after it has run dry. If I run out of fuel and refil the tank, I block the exhaust port and open the carb for the fuel to refil the line however the momnet I let go, the fuel shoots back into the tank. I have to keep my hand on the exhaust for a long period until it starts up again. Once the air is out, it runs perfect. You can see when i prime how the fuel and bubbles bounce up and down the fuel line as it turns over the starter box. If I diconnect the fuel line from the carb and hold the exhaust the line pressures immediately, I then pinch the line and reconnect the carb but as I let go, the fuel shoots back into the tank. The motor runs around 120 / 130 degs C (250-265F) and im running 25% nitro. My other motors used to prime fast and never had this issue before. Any ideas?

Don't you think if it was a leak it would do it at any temps? I used to per heat to 80 degC before starting but it would battle to prime. If I pre-heat to 50 degC it would start no problem. It's as though the heat from the motor is preventing the fuel from entering the carb.

exhaust gaskets good? pipe may be dirty? On mine, I don't have to plug the exhaust at all so you have some kind of leak or blockage going on...

Hey guys, just curious of what pipe and header Elliot Boots is running in his buggy? It was featured in Under the Hood on neobuggy.net.

i know it is a 2096 pipe. I was there... I did not look at the header.

Considering a new P5 in my truggy. I've heard good things about it for truggy use. What's the latest on P5 bearings? I thought I read that the new P5 XLT comes with decent bearings that don't need to be replaced. Is that true?

Don't feel like spending extra $$$ on bearings for a new engine. And how do you like it in a truggy?

x2.. And how do you know if it's the newer better version, or an older one that's been laying around?

The earlier versions of the P5XLT had some front bearing issues. My P5 was made in early 2011 and to be safe I replaced with 17011 front bearing before it seen fuel. However my good friend's P5 was new last summer and he's had zero bearing issues whatsoever. Both our engines are in Serpent truggies and have performed flawlessly to date. For the stock P5XLT the 2096SS/41021 combo has provided outstanding performance at a very good value. You will not be disappointed and your wallet will thank you. :D

P5

The newest P5's have the 17011 front brearing installed now. It's about time, however, the rear bearing uses smaller balls and seems to be decent although I would replace it with a ceramic or better quality Nova steel bearing just to be sure.

Any news on when the keep off 7port engines are out?
Cheers

Who told you this?

So Houston, what's the deal with the latest P5XLT? Would you replace the bearings, or do they last long enough without putting the engine in any unnecessary risk?
