BONITO HELP!!
Monty and or Neil, feel free to chime in
I briefly posted something like two weeks ago about this but did not detail the situation. I have a Bonito in a TLR 8-T 9901 41021 Byrons 30/9. I do not count fuel but prob has 3.5 Gallons or so (new this year) Recently when the Tank opens and it is refueled (or not fueled, just the tank even opens) it pulls off with a CHOKING sound and maybe a little rattle (hard to explain) and sometimes it will catch itself back up and continue running well and sometime it will FLAME :( ALSO not sure if they are the same situation, but to get it to clean out and run well, it is HOT (i know they like to be warm) but we are around 300 F ANY ADVISE???? I have only broken the engine down ONCE (I am new to RC this year, and although mechanically inclined, I am a little worried I will mess something up pulling it apart) the one time I did pull it apart was months ago, and it ran great for the longest time, now I just have this issue |
Start the engine on the starter box and take Motor/ nitro spray and shoot it directly being the flywheel. My guess is your motor will either instantly die or almost stall. If it does it's time for a new front bearing.
If that's not the case then my second guess is your needles are slightly out of wack. Lean top and a rich bottom along with a fat idle gap. |
Ok, so IF I get the Hudy bearing tool, for a .21 do you HAVE to pull the rear b earing when you pull the front so they still go in at the same time...or can you leave it?

Norwood, if you change one I wold change both IMO. Im betting the bottom end may be a little rich. If you come to awesome sunday bring it over to me and Ill take a look at it.
I think I am going to be able to make it Sunday so we can check it out |
You can just do the front and leave the rear. Have Tony Take a looksy at it for you. Chances are its just a few hours on the needles and your golden.
|
I'm betting its the classic to lean on the top and to rich on the bottom

New Venturis
Damn, how small can they go?
Nova seems truly fixed on run time gains with their new carb and venturis. I get great run time with my "old" Nova carbs. I would imagine these new carbs and venturis make it much more difficult to get a consistent tune. How low can you go |
Yes saw them on Neo as well, I have always found the smaller the venturi the smaller the window gap for the tune.... But that could just be me....lol
|
with the new carb the 5.4 works well and tuning was not an issue really... i don't think i will try these new inserts. the new carb is funny.. even with a 7mm in it.. it almost seem to use all the fuel going into it i keep leaning and leaning to get it from spitting fuel out but the temps was still around 240ish on a 85 degree day... runtimes weren't all that for me.. but i have yet to test it on my home track to gig can idea of runtimes.. i will have to do back to back test to figure it out

But the temps are like 300 once the top is leaned to make it run right so would that not be more like a lean bottom??...Also changing the front bearing is like $30 but that rear is like a $150 bearing :(

I'm new to thread and I am looking for some insight ! I just acquired 2 novarossi engines.
1st up is a used 21-5kt, guy claims to have only broken it in with a gallon and half ! I can't turn it over with my hand so the compression is realy tight ! I took off the turbo head to clean it out and I noticed there is NO shims in it ! Downloaded the Manuel and it shows there should 3 shims ! Anyone no for sure ? 2nd is new in the box 2001bf never seen fuel ! Anyone have experience with these ? Any feedback appreciated ! |
