The Keep Offs from what I understand converted to the new REX Legend line (with maybe some tiny changes but the Legends are basically the Keep Offs. The Mito line is super smooth like an OS!! My Keep Off 7 is super smooth so I would imagine the Legend line would be smooth too ;)

Hey guys, not sure whats up with one of my Nova carbs. I swear the lsn does not tune in right until the needle is turned in about 3.5 turns from flush! and my other Nova carb only gets turned in BARELY past flush to be tuned right?! Is this maybe the difference between a short and long needle carb?

sounds to me like a leak.
You need to replace the o-rings on it, and check the rubber boot for holes.

cczjordan 06-10-2015 03:08 AM

Usually carb o-ring or front bearing need replacement

Is one a short needle?

cczjordan 06-10-2015 08:57 AM

I m sure is long lsn. Only SOS will use short. A way to check it is by removing filter boot n wot, observe the lsn edle movement from jet area.

1. With 30%-50% throttle input, lsn pull out completely = short
2. With 90%-100% throttle input, lsn still/out = long

Short or long is easy to check, u never know? Wonder how u tune ur engine

LOL haven't actually checked that.... just getting some input first.

sn47som1 06-10-2015 12:49 PM

I've noticed after a couple of good runs, the front bearing has kind of like a gooey, dark dirt build up covering the bearing. Is this a fuel leak due to very rich break in? Is the bearing still runnable?

Neal, can you elaborate on this engine more and make comparisons to previous higher port Novas? crank specs? Thanks

I've been running an OS Speed spec II in my Truggy. Was thinking of trying a Virtus 7 port.

Anyone have first hand experience with the 2 engines?

Anyone try new manifold 41033/2096 combo for 7port engine? Any feedback

2 of use tried this weekend. We both went back to the 41021 on our 7 ports...

sn47som1 06-11-2015 02:35 PM

Also try the 41001!!

So wanted to ask anyone know who has any P/S/R in stock for the P5? My P5XLT has lost its pinch, and would love to go with a new P/S/R but at the same time feel like I should just get a new P5XLT :/

Having been directed here...

Have you ever had it Re-pinched before?

I believe they (Amain) still have a Hot Mod P5 in stock too!! which is like the sickest engine deal you can get.

Yes it has been. Which is why I thought next step would be a new PSR. But I will look at just a new motor, may be easier and less hassle.

Thanks for the help and links.

I would measure the crank pin before buying a new p/s/c, usually it wore out after hard running. If d crank pin NG, just it pinch n run it again. New engine is best solution

I tune the standard way. HSN first, then LSN and idle. Then I dial them all in for a final adjustment.

so what I see unique about this engine is that it has a powerband that peaks much earlier then most other offroad .21's, yet still manages to pull power all the way up to 40 000 RPM. At only 20 000 RPM this engine is already making full torque.. which will allow it to pull a lower clutch stall and give a better trigger feel.... It makes similar HP numbers to a OS Speed but peaks about 5000 RPM earlier which means it has much higher torque numbers...Also so far it is showing to be extremely good on fuel... I will offer it in a track tuned format that will operate best on a 41021 manifold using any of 2096,9886,9901 and 9853.....I Will also offer it as a modified... the track tuned will more or less retain the current powerband range, the modified will have the powerband moved up to 25 000 RPM....However with that being said the stock version is quite formidable , especially if you are after a engine with really good tractable grunt..it has lower port timings so the idle is very strong and the tuning quite stable..... All in all for the money its a really sweet engine....

sn47som1 06-12-2015 06:11 PM

So then it sounds like the clocked keep 7 or bonito would be more beast with just as good fuel mileage?

I'm curious to find out, breakin in a stock paloma 41021/2096 today. I think it is more suitable for truggy

I Will not longer be using the moniker " Clocked " to describe my engines.....I am now The Nitro Shop...or TNS.....

SO yes my 7 ports are going to be more aggressive in the midrange and top end, have a more aggressive feel...The 8 port is going to have more grunt and more of a 4 stroke feel to it.. So depends what your are after,,,drag racing down the straight or popping huge air off short run jumps...

Socket 06-13-2015 12:03 PM

Anyone with experience with the Top Elite 5? How does it compare to say, the P5?

I'm after it ALL- run up grunt and "the drag race" characteristics/powerband and very good mileage all in the same engine. SO which TNS modified .21 would you recommend for this? Thanks Neal

Let us know how it goes compared to other 7 portys. I heard its beast.

I'd seen a bonito run, i willl say close. Small track/low traction imo will need to restrict its power. With the price, sure is a bargain

Hi mate, I have had Neils TNS Elite 5 for only a short period, I have also had the stock P5, with comparison, the Elite 5 has loads More bottom end power, still has a great top end, however imo its a truggy engine with a bottom end that's required with truggy! It has a extreme Bottom End compared to the P5. Checkout Neils Dyno results on his facebook page, they are awesome results! Good value for money engine, keep in mind, break in off ANY engine, is the key to a quality engine that performs well- DONT RUSH IT !

Does anyone use the Avid ceramic bearings in their engines?

I kinda want to try them in one of my p5xlt's. They are a hell of a lot cheaper than the Novarossi branded bearings.

Not Avid's but TKO's. Had a couple that I replaced at about 8 gallons just cause. Matter of fact, got the stock Nova double seal up front and TKO Ceramic in the rear of my P5 now. Been like that from break-in.
But I have had real good luck with the Avids in other parts of all my cars...I wouldn't have any reserves about running them in my engine. And deffinetly a ton cheaper than the Nova bearings...

Can any gurus pointed out what is the difference between this 2, i can not tell difference in term of performance
TN Team vs bonito/keep off sleeve porting

Hey guys I got a ? What pipe do u recommend for a p5 with the 15007 crank ? It's for a Losi truggy I ran the 9901 and it feels ok . So just need yalls input I'm trying to decide what pipe to buy next for this p5 . Thanks guys

Hello, my p5xlt has almost reached 15liters of use so I decided to have a go at cleaning it internally. Inside the engine it was very dirty. Sort of a crust very black everywhere inside the chamber exept the cylinder wall of course. The head of the piston ans cylinder head were the worst. Is it normal after 15L?
