So what would be a good pipe for a 421/821B?
I was just going to dyno test the new Top Elite 8 ...I will try all the usual pipes and will get back to you on what I find.. |
After run oil
Don't really want to start another thread on this, but what else works well as ARO?
I've heard people use Marvel Myster oil or even sewing machine oil. Isn't the Singer machine oil just the same white mineral oil you'd find anywhere? |

Suggestions on a pipe for a p5xl
All this talk of pipes has me wondering what the best pipe would be for a p5xl I have on my buggy. Local track has about a hundred feet straight and a good sweeper turn. I currently have a dynamite 086 speed on it now. Getting decent power, but wonder what better options are out there.
Thanks |
I have a maxy quatro 4 port, What header would give me the most top end from a 2096? I have a 41001,41021 and a 41032

what carb and where to buy
I tried a search and just got more confusion. I have 2 motors, a Nova +21-4c , and a Maxy Cinco .. I need a carb that will work with both of these. Have no idea which one or where to purchase.. Anyone help me with Nova carbs?
Thanks |

The 24067 is the carb that came on the Cinco and may have come on the 21-4C as well. It was the standard carb until this year. Some of the 2015 engines are being sent out with the new 24068 which is supposed to be easier to tune and get better milage. Drake runs the 24068 on his engines.
Ok thank you very much for the part numbers. Cleared things up for me. Now I just need to figure out where to buy one. I found maybe 1 place online to order one and it was not a place I was familiar with.. |

20%-30% for my p5
So after serval years off I got my buggy back on the track. Although I asked for 30% fuel I received 20%. I did not notice it until nearly the end of the gallon the other day. I did notice the car was not as snappy but just figured I had not race tuned the engine or my memory was off. The engine is shimmed for 30% and has an odonald 99 plug yet has never idled or given me a 10 plus minute run time and temp at 230 while on 30% as it has on 20% the last two weeks out.
Should I bother going back to 30%? And if so should I go back to factory needle settings or just richness hsn and lsn an hour or so? If not should I remove the shim? |

If you are happy with it, it has a good idle, good smoke on take off and at full throttle down the straight, good power and you are running 10 minutes.... I would leave it:sneaky: |

I think it's the other way around, they come shimmed for 30
just checked a manual here and the recommended fuel is 25% |
Although I miss the snap. The run time, idle, and no flame outs this gallon of fuel has been nice. I may just leave it alone.
Thanks guys |
Hey guys, at the moment my Nova Keep Off 7 has 2 silver ( I think each is .2mm) head shims, so a total of .4mm head shim thickness. Can I remove one to test for power and performance changes? - Thank you!

Actually they say its shimmed for 25%, maybe they can't use no higher than 25% across the pond?
just checked a manual here and the recommended fuel is 25%

I dont know about the Keep off engines, but Nova's typically come with .8mm shimming and after a few gallons you can remove a .2mm and add a .1mm to get to .7mm. Chances are you are missing something, or the brass shim is stuck to the head button.
Hence why I thought they came shimmed for 30. IF they now come shimmed for 25 (.7) then that would be different. |
I have a brand new keep off 4 crank shaft that I sent to Lance at RcRenew to be silicone filled. Never used, never installed. Pm me if interested

Actually to be honest Im just assuming they are .2 because I thought all silvers were .2 but maybe they are thicker like .3 or .4mm shims each making a total of .6 or .8mm.... I cant measure them at the moment
|
the silver shims are .3
|
well
The copper shim may be sandwiched between the 2 .30 shims.
The stock setup is 2 .30 silver shims and one .20 copper or brass shim for a total of .80. |
Thanks so much guys! Cool, so now I know I'm running a .6mm stack. Have any of you run .3mm?

i have a plus 4 that has just about had it. i love the engine, but its time to move on. whats the closest engine to it currently? i love the fact of how smooth it is in my buggy and would like to get the same from my next mill.

Thats the thing, there is no brass shim. ONLY 2 silvers. I would like to remove one. Wats the worst that could happen? pre detonation? It actually sounds like then Im already running a high compression ratio with .4mm which is what I was thinking, but Id like to raise it more....

Thanks Monty! looks like ill be leaving it alone lol

i assume any of the 4 port engines would be similar to the plus 4?
|
None of the new Novarossi 4 are anything Plus 4. The mito is soooooo smooth and great and fast power band.
|
Few Questions for the Novarossi Masters:
1. is the crank in the Mito slugged (if so how many weights) and silicone ramped ? 2. are the cranks that are slugged drilled and filled with lighter material to reduce weight or drilled and filled with heaver material to increase weight? 3. Keep off7 XLBS for truggy and Keep off 4s buggy ? 4 Why did they discontinue Keep off 7 xl line ? 5. Why did the keep Bonito line ? 6. What engine do I want if I want to kick the ass of a OS Speed B2101 sq. bore, Speed Spec II long stroke ,Protek Samuri short stroke, JQ The Engine short stroke speed 7. What is the beast of the line up? 8. What is the smooth power engine in the line up? 9.  |
3 slugs per crank. Heavier slugs to balance the crank. No silicone. If you wanna whoop on some OS Speed get the mito 7.

MAXIMO, What would you recommend for an all out beast engine for buggy (Clocked of course) from the new lines? Your Mito 7, Legend 7, Elite 8? Paloma?
