I was given a used nova N21BF that runs but having some trouble with tunning and idling, rough starts. I took the head button off an noticed that there are no head shims. would that cause my problems? using 20% nitro

1. yes it would
2. are you sure the head shims aren't just hiding out, playing chameleon? Sometimes they get stuck on there and are hard to spot.

The most important bit he talked about was the new carb:
-The HSN is deleted and now there's a middle range needle will be used as a HSN, the usual LSN and the idle. The new carb gives more power, runtime and a better idle. Carb is very easy to tune.
-The virtus has a little more power than the 4Team and is way more aggressive.
-The virtus has a 2mm carb offset to enhance mixture flow and be a stable running engine.
Hope it helps.

JKoiva 02-21-2014 06:05 PM

When and where will the keep off 4 with the new carb be available ? And the new carbs separately available for that matter ?

mourinho 02-21-2014 10:14 PM

Has anyone tried the virtus 21 offroad? Is it similar or comparable to which motor in the previous line? The only place ive found it for sale is asking $600 u.s. is that the correct price?

upon further inspecting I found the shims stuck under there. still having a rough time keeping it to idle right now the HSN is about 3 turns from closed and the LSN is also about 3 turns from closed. using an OD purple sport plug and traxxas 20% top fuel. gives me a hard time trying to start first thing as well. Is a N21BF Limited with a dynamite 086HS pipe worth rebuilding? or should I just get a new engine?

Try a novarossi plug 5 or 6. How fresh is the fuel?

rcindia 02-25-2014 10:49 PM

Has anyone tried C5TGC Plugs? They are hot and recommended for cooler temps. My track see between 80-95F. Do you recommend the hotter plug? Our OS friends are always using P3 plugs which is a hot one and they seem to last forever. I currently use C6TGC and run 25% nitro.

For 85-90°F I would highly suggest you stick with c6tgc

are you having any issues that you are trying to resolve by switching to a hotter plug?

Occasionally you can find one on eBay for about $550. Still outrageously expensive though.

kgombe 02-26-2014 04:47 PM

i thought i saw that absolute has them for 529.. front steel bearing

jwcobra03 02-26-2014 05:18 PM

Murnan Modified has them for $489 stock and $549 modded.

I have a question which pipe produces more torque a 2084? or 9901?

In my experiences with the Bonito and Keep-Off XL in a truggy, the 2084 is more favorable for tight/smaller tracks. Over the years I've gone back and forth quite a bit from large/flowing speed tracks to smaller/tight tracks and simply change the tuned pipe. I will say the Nova pipe I tested with the most torque has been the 9853 though I get better fuel mileage with the 2084. These experiences are with a truggy only, I do not race buggy.

Hey guys. Nitro season is starting in the north east for me and I won't to be super ready. Joey the dirt is coming to build our track in New York. I knw it's going to be awesome with big jumps. If u seen the fuel nats track in pa, it's the about that size. I have a novarossi roma coming for my truggy. What is the best pipe and manifold setup for this motor. That is good on big tracks small tracks and medium size tracks. Basically what is the best all around pipe setup for this motor made from novarossi thanks

Hey guys I've got an old N21R limited edition that needs to be rebuilt. I only have one problem, I can't seem to find parts anywhere! I've looked everywhere I can think of but nada.

I wanted to have it as a spare, but at this point I'm not even sure it's worth the trouble. What do y'all think?

Hello folks. I'm looking for a crankshaft to resurrect a friend's P5XLT. The current crank is damaged from seized cb bearings and is unusable for anything more than a 5 or 7 minute race.

Specifically I'm looking for Novarossi p/n 15009, 15009T or 15010 in stock condition, no mods other than maybe silicone fill. Please nothing worn out or trashed...something used that you'd race yourself.

Hoping someone has a P5, 21-4C or Rally engine (Kappo,N21-5T,N21-7T,Kangaroo Rally, etc) parts engine where the crank is in nice condition.

PM with details on anything you might have. Thanks in advance!

what tuned pipe recomend for plus 21 4 btt wc?

Correct. Should I spend the money? Or just buy a motor as a spare?

Anyone have updates ?

Trying to pick up a new engine for this season and get em broke in but after going to Amain looks as though most Novarossi engines are back ordered !

P5xlt / N21b / Roma / Keep off /

Is this due to the new lines coming out ? Live Range or even the updated versions to these engines ?

Clio P5 / Bloody / loco etc. etc. ?

Anyone have dates for the releases !???

The Clio P5 and Virtus Off-Road are already available though in limited numbers. The Roma and Keep-Off engines will remain in the 2014 off-road engine line up along with the BTTS WC. The Bloody (4 port turbo) and Loco (3 port standard) are more entry level engines with the latter being close to the N21. I have not heard about Live Range availability as of yet.

Yes, Amain does appear to have many on back order but there are other retailers with engines available. Check Absolute Hobbyz, as of yesterday I believe they had a few Clio P5 engines available.

t8rtot 03-04-2014 04:54 PM

Amain isn't the be all end all, look for better prices at stormer and absolute etc..

Not trying to get in a pissing match ?

He's saying that there are other sites that have competitive pricing with the same excellent service/shipping ect... Absolute and A-main are the ones I purches from mostly because of price and availability.

If your engine is for a truggy, I would most certainly go with the Virtus. That looks to be an animal!

JustinL7294 03-07-2014 11:55 AM

I been having a hard time tuning this N21 limited that I got used. Unsure of how many gallons put through it. So I decided to open it up and go through it and all looked pretty good. Watched some videos online and came across one to check for leaks. Tested and found a leake where the crank shaft goes through the front bearing. Now I would think new bearing but how to make sure the crank isn't worn either. Last time it ran it would start rev up and die. Couldn't get it to even idle.

needs front brng , pretty typical

Team_Orange 03-08-2014 02:43 PM

Is a os 2060 pipe very good with a 21-4btt.

am 03-09-2014 12:15 AM

Get a new front bearing, Nova17011 and get a BUKU cap. It will outlast the engine :-)

CaptainHowdyt13 03-09-2014 05:22 PM

Is the P5 really THAT good?

I mean, today was my second day with this newly broken in Beat B5 and it's every bit as powerful as my Plus 4 BTT if not more so. I planned on getting a Keep Off 7 as a "big" race engine but after running this P5, I don't see myself spending $400+ when this $200 engine seems to be doing everything right.
