whats up guss. I would recommend using the nova plugs in your novarossi, even if it means replacing the head button. Did you get the engine from someone locally?

the plus 4c is a ripper and pair with a 9901 one of the smooth motors in rc and one the most used club motors.

the plus btts has a smoother bottom then the plus 4c and is also very good in buggy but i like the plus 4c motor low end

the bonito is a smooth 7 port with screaming top end and is one the fast motor in rc.

huston works on all my motors form break in to tweaking you can go wrong with a huston tuned nova or just a bone stock one. i dont have patiencts to break in a motor so i let huston do it

He meant to say you can't lol. The 4btts gets my vote. Best engine I've ever pulled the trigger on.

I'm waiting for my btta to arrive from Monty for this year...after running e-buggy for the winter I can't wait to get out side and burn through some nitro!

Thx! So does that mean the 4C has better low end than the bonito? And that shld be better on a truggy? And is there significant difference btw them in terms of fuel efficiency?

Ok briefly...I am VERY new to RC but I am very mechanically inclined and ok at all the tinkering. I am very good when it comes to tuning an engine but when it comes to shims I am lost:tire::confused:

I have a new Bonito and broke it in nicely with Byrons 25% 11% and have now switched to Byrons 30% 9% and I need to know what I do with the shims, from what I read some people say to remove one?? I am in the DC Metro area mostly in Pa and Va, gets pretty humid and only a few hundred feet above sea level.

it is entirely ok to remove the .20mm copper shim on the bonito after the metal to metal friction "pinch" is gone and a good compression seal is formed

Not necessarily. The Bonito has tons of bottom and is a better engine for any truggy.
A 4C will work but you'll find yourself looking for more power. The 4C engines are not known to have a strong top end power band.
The BTT has a different cut on the rear exhaust sleeve port and engine case, which increased the overall power band, allowing the engine to pull harder at top end. While still keeping the great smooth but aggressive bottom end power.

I have another question. I have a Nitrotec and after about 2 gallons I removed .20 in shims leaving .60 like your supposed to but haven't read anything about removing shims after break-in with BTTa. Anyway should I remove any shims when I have lost all metal pinch with my BTTa? One more thing where can I get Nova pipes for a decent price? Thanks Again!

I dont really recommend going any lower the .70mm or .65mm on the bore x stroke that the nitrotec is Mick , the bonito is totally different bore x stroke

Btta is same bore x stroke as nitrotec but not the same engine which many believe

And novarossi pipes are made to very strict standards unlike most of the "cheap" pipes which are not , this translates into better performance and mileage and
knowing that you can purchase the same pipe years from now and it will perform the same , the same cannot be said of the lesser quality pipes.

Only reason I pulled the shims on the Nitrotec is because it recommends to do that in manual after break-in. It's got 6 gallons on it and runs awesome. But I will leave the BTTa alone I really like how easy it is to drive at low/mid speed. Thanks Again!

the nitrotec manual tells you to remove the .20mm shim completely ? interesting

they are both the same bore x stroke combination and almost the same intake/sleeve timings so what works for one will work for the other

It's a seperate sheet that is from Losi that recommends carb settings, fuel, and removing shim after break-in.
