Oiling hole in the rod always faces towards the crankshaft.

Thanks so oil hole to carb.

Werks 01-30-2013 10:24 PM

The fuel/air mixture flows through the tunnel in the crankshaft and the oiling hole in the rod needs to face that (even if the carb is not installed ;-) in order to lubricate the crank pin. It's important to use the correct justification or description of why you do something so that people understand (or learn) the reason behind doing so. So yes it does face the front of the engine or the carb if you will but if you tell people that the oiling hole in the rod always faces the tunnel in the crank down which the air/fuel mixture flows (and hence the oil in the fuel) they have a better understand of why.

Depends on your driving style. The B5 will have a lot of torque. Some like a punchy engine in buggy other do not. You have the engine already so I'd just bolt it in and give it a try!

I took quite a bit of time to write out detailed step by step break in instruction which you can find in the first post on this thread. Please review those and they will tell you step by step how we recommend that you break in and tune your engine. If you have a lot of experience tuning and breaking in engines then you can use the system that you prefer, if you do not then I would suggest that you just follow the system in the first post.

I noticed that AMain lists an optional long LSN for Werks engines. Do all the Werks engines come with a short LSN? Is the long needle really optional or standard on all the current engines?

Setting the idle gap and then using the LSN to set idle speed, is this the same on long and short needles?

Werks 02-12-2013 09:23 PM

I believe the needle that you are talking about was optional for the older B7 3 needle carb. Regarding the setting the idle gap and then adjusting the idle with the LS needle that works with any carburetor and any brand of engine.

I have a B5 in my Losi Truggy and now I have bought a losi Buggy as well.
Is it a REALLY bad idea to have the B5 in a buggy?
I know the B6 is more a fit for a buggy but I wan't a B5 because all the parts are the same and I have to order everything and wait a couple of weeks for delivery so having spare parts around is essential.

Could a do OK with the B5 in the buggy?

Where do I buy these engines in Europe? It's hard to find the regular B5 for a decent price. I see B5 Pro but I donät know what difference it is.

A b5 will work fine in a buggy. I usually run a little more gear with the b5 cause it has a strong bottom. The b5 pro has a ceramic rear bearing and a lightened silicone filled crank.

Don't worry about the parts situation. Other than the sleeve, both the B5 and B6 motors are identical.
The B6 (or B6 Pro) is an absolutely amazing buggy engine. I would lean toward the B6 for your buggy and you can still share parts.
As Shane has said though, with the right gearing and clutch the B5 is cool in a buggy too - so really you can't loose either way ;)
