DogBone, having a slight two stage idle while unusual is not necessarily a bad thing. Personally I think that people concentrate too much on making sure that their idle drops back down immediately and all of the other mess associated with it than they should. My take on things is that if your engine performs perfectly on track i.e. does not run on, does not load up etc. etc. who cares what the idle sounds like once the car comes back in the pits? That is as long as the idle is not so high as to cause the clutch to drag (which will affect the driveability of the car). Just my personal take on things. Having said that though when you do see a two stage idle it often means that the air gap is too large and that you are running a richer LS setting. So you can reduce the air gap a tad and then lean the LS to compensate which should help. Last thing to point out is as JFuel11 mentioned, do not even bother chasing after small stuff like this until your engine is fully broken in!

Ron its all good. I have a B5 with 2gal, on it and a new one in the box.
Thanks for your help [ HURRICANE and B and B ]. |
Ahh 564 pages later and well I am sold on a werks engine. I am used to running a os xz-b v-spec, dynamite platinum xpe with and xp 3 needle carb, or a losi/Novarossi nitrotec r21 and a wondering a b6 would perform compared to those engines or would a b5 be more suited against these engines? Also I would like to know how durability is with these engines. I am 15 and money isn't exactly plentiful in my scenerio so I changing a p/s sleeve every 6 gallons won't exactly be practical. I already have a large assortment of pipes to choose from and this engine will be going into a hopped up losi 8ight 2.0 and I will be running it off of either sidewinder team strike or vp power master. I would love to give a good review on this engine to my boss at work/lhs owner a good review of this engine also so any tips or tricks to get the most out of my new new werks engine would be great! thanks for your help !

Thanks for checking out our thread and considering one of our engines! The beauty of having so many pages is that there are tips and feedback galore posted! Just flip through and I'm sure that you will find that any possible question that you could ever imagine has been discussed lol! For use in your buggy though I would recommend that you go with the B6 engine, I thik that you are going to find that the B5 has too much bottom end which will result in excessive wheel spin. The B6 is our recommended buggy engine and paired with a 2058 pipe or if you have one already and Associated 2035 I think that you are going to be completely content!

Question for Ron
Iam Newbie to nitro and my son has been running the b2 with a Dynamite 2053 and it rips pretty good. I just purchased a werks 2058 pipe for it. I got a great deal on a NIB B5 team racing engine. Question is will the 2058 be good on the B5 or should I use the 2053? |

I raced my b5 in buggy this weekend. Thing ran flawless. I also ran the nova 9901, 41021 combo and could get 10 minutes a tank. I qualified 1st in the B and won that by a lap, and overall finished 5th in the A.

Had a bit of trouble at the Australian Truggy Nats last weekend.
Bumped up from the 1/4 to the main final. Motor was running sweet, just a little rich for the 1st lap or so after pitting. This motor was new and just run in ready for the pro-line challenge 2 weeks before (less than 4 liters on it) Then 1/2 hour into the main final the motor stopped expectantly. Upon taking the head off, the issue was clear. I was wondering how the hell that happened... Turns out the bearing case on the font bearing gave way!!! http://cormcc.org/images/Werks/w1.jpg http://cormcc.org/images/Werks/w2.jpg http://cormcc.org/images/Werks/w3.jpg http://cormcc.org/images/Werks/w4.jpg http://cormcc.org/images/Werks/w5.jpg http://cormcc.org/images/Werks/w6.jpg What could have caused this to happen on such a new engine? Manufacturing defect? |
