How about removal? What method works best with the Werks engines without using a puller?

alexrckid 09-03-2011 05:45 AM

i totally strip down the engine leaving just the bearings. then, using a paint/vinyl tile removal gun(like from lowes/home depot), while setting the case on some ceramic tile, i heat to death the front of the case until the front bearing just about falls out. after that, i direct the heat to the center of the case where the rear bearing is......i grab the case with some heatproof gloves and slap the back of the case on a piece of soft pine.....the bearing should fall out....if not, apply more heat and try again........after all of this, i let the case air cool and do the reverse to install the new bearings. i keep the new bearings in a zip lock bag, overnight, in the freezer to help "pre-shrink" them a bit before installing.............use the crank to do the reinstall..

Not really engine related but I wanted to take a second to congratulate Model Marin our importer in Sweden on their recent success with Christoffer Svensson winning the Nordic Championship running Werks 25% "Race Blend" fuel last weekend!

If I get the huddy bearing tool kit, do I need to get a separate adapter for the odd shaped rear bearing?

Does anyone run the OS P3 plugs on the Werks B5 with success?

Ron, Can you provide some info on this too..

Yes, I have run the same P3 plug in my B5 all thru breakin, and 2 race days. About 20 tanks, and still have not had even a flame out. I'm still a little on the rich side until it's all the way broken in, but not having any issues whatsoever. Seems to be a great plug for the B5.

I started breaking in my Werks B5 and B6 monday, the machine work is TOP notch, and they run even better. Iv owned alot of different engines, and seriously this one has the best idle iv ever heard. Even being super rich for break in it still runs excellent!

Im hopefully going to CRCRC for the midwest champs to run these, but if not im excided for next year! Great product Ron, thanks!
