The last race day I experienced lean bogging part way into a couple of races and also had a couple of flameouts with my b5pro even though it seemed rich on the bottom end.

Cheers

I've been using the 97t with good results here in my b5pro here in Southern Cali.

If the lean bog gets progressively worse as the tank empties, the lean bog is usually a too lean HSN just like you said. The fix is to richen the HSN, and then it may be necessary to retune your idle and LSN (usually leaning your LSN gets you back to a steady idle).

Hey guys, wondering if someone might be able to answer a question for me. I just got my new B5 last week. Not the pro version. And was doing break in and noticed something, and I was just curious if anyone can tell me what it was, if anything.

I did about 4-5 tanks, without going past half throttle first. Then, I got into the half throttleto full after that. One thing that was happening was I would go from slow roll, and gradually move to fully throttle, and at the half-way point in my throttling, it would have a TINY bog. For just a SPLIT second. It almost felt like it was happening at the point of the low speed needle (inside), clearing the spray bar, at the point where the HSN takes over as far as fuel intake. It would just kind of hiccup. Such a small amount, that it didnt make the cars motion change at all, you could just hear it. I didn't know if this was just something that may occur with break-in, or if there was a problem elsewhere.

I am using a Jammin JP1 pipe, an O.S. P3 (ultra hot) plug. It was still set pretty rich for breakin, so I dont think at all that it was any kind of lean bog. Anyone have any idea what this little hiccup could be?

More than likely it was just what you mentioned, the point that fuel delivery transitions from your LS to you HS. Because of the fact that you are still breaking in your engines your needles are set super rich so you have been leaning down your LS and now you are pulling enough throttle that the HS is coming into play and that is probably still really rich. So my guess is that you engine hiccuped not because of a lean bog but because it got too much fuel for a sec. Either way it is nothing to be concerned about right now just keep on breaking in your engine and slowly but surely going towards race tune.

Not a problem, glad that I was able to help you out and thank you for using out products!

Yeah, you must be right, Ron. That sounds like exactly what it was. Because thru my break in, i was slowly leaning the LSN before I started going to my full throttles, and didn't touch my HSN. That makes sense. Thanks, bud!

Header Gasket

Does anyone have a good suggestion on what header gasket to use.
I buy a few here and a few there and never remember the name or the place I got them from.
Mostly I get some that are too thick.
That little bead on the inside of the gasket seem to be too thick.
I always have a hard time getting the header on to the engine, the gasket will curl up.
I had a few that fitted well though, but don't know where I got them.

RB/Nova are Imo the Best bang for the buck. Grease or Spit will allow the pipe/header to be installed easier, Just dont go overboard.

Thank you both. I was looking for a link to the exact product to buy, please.
I have ordered a few of these - link

I hope they are good and not too thick.
By the way, I have tried everything with the ones I got. Grease, oil, spit, WD-40 and heat. Nothing helps, they are just too thick.

I'm going to pull the trigger on a new B5 for truggy, been running a Nova P5 and love it. Just want to try something different and want a little more top end than the P5 has. The B5 seems to fit the bill perfectly.
So what pipe is the best to get for truggy and what kind of run times should I expect? I could easily pit at 10 minutes with my P5.

aptyk88 08-30-2011 03:06 PM

werks 2013 in truggy, easy 10 minute pits.

+1. Haven't gotten to easy 10 minute pits yet since the engine is just broken in and slightly rich. Pitting at just over 9 minutes but hoping to get to the 10 minute mark since mains are usually 20 minutes.
