Ok i broke in my b5 this week and ran it. Break in was super easy and trouble free. byrons 30%, os p3 plug....... I tried it first with the 2013 this pipe works awesome, very snappy and punchy on the bottom great power and top end, then I tried the 2057, this pipe was smoother, less punchy on the bottom but still had a lot of bottom and killer topend, seemed to rev a bit higher than the 2013. but both pipes are pretty close performance wise. the 2013 is snappy'r and the 2057 is smoother. Ok, then I swapped it out with a losi re-10 pipe. Had to richen the high needle 3/4 of a turn so you will lose a little runtime (prob 45 sec?). had xlnt bottom and mid and good top. this pipe works pretty well on this engine. top end suffered a bit with this pipe. I was so busy swapping pipes and tuning I did not get a chance to keep track of each of the run times. I would say that the 2057 or the 2013 are both killer and the losi re-10 actually worked good too on this engine and its a lot cheaper and stronger. BUt runtime and topend will suffer a bit. But to most local racers to lose 30 -40 sec a tank and a little top will most likely not have much of an impact. I also threw the b5 in my d8t and it did great in the truggy too. idles perfect, never died once stayed under 240 deg all day on a 95 deg day. Great engine great power from bottom to top. tunes easy and idles great!

UNDERWAY----
if you are looking for werks fuel in illinois im pretty sure RJD HOBBIES in Lincoln sells werks fuel. Maybe give them a call and see what they can do. |
I will be breaking in my B5 this weekend and running it next week.
|
RJD is definetely worth a shot. RJD's # is 1217-732-4300.
PS: My B5 has been running really good lately. The best pipe I've tried so far has been the RB 2045. It really smoothed things out, and at the last race, I was able to make 9:30 pretty easily. :) Setup works really good in the buggy! Happy Racing.... |
got my sirio 2057 on the way now i can't wait till these are back in stock.read alot and seen a couple run and very impressed and a big plus is the customer service i see here.

hey ron,
i'm planning on buying the b5 once it is off backorder at amain, and the 2013 pipe as well, but was wondering... you stated about 80 pages back:) the b7 has more high end, and at only $60 more would you consider the b7 superior to the b5? and one more question, any plans on offering a werks buggy or truggy? with your customer service and great products, I'm sure it would be a hit! thanks, John |
Hey Ron, I currently have 1 sirio cl7b sti, extech II .21, werks b3, werks b7, werks b5, N0varossi p5x. I have had more engines in the recent past but these are the ones I currently have... So.how does the b5 compare........ well first of all I have always been a sirio fan,the smoothness, power, reliablility and longetivity are top notch. the werks being sirio based just tells you the quality.b5 so far seems to be a great blend of bottom and top end power. I love the B3 it has a TON of low end grunt and decent top and for most tracks in so cal the straights arent that long anyway but it did lack a little top. The B7 Is super fast but for truggy in my opinion lacks a little bottom for certain tracks, but the mid to top is insane, perfect for buggies in my opinion, the B5 seems to be the perfect balance of bottom end and top end power. It revs to the moon, and yet has enough bottom end to clear my D8T over any of the large "hard to clear" jumps I encountered. And the runtimes are xlnt. I can not notice any less power or performance over my $300 sirio cl7b sti, or my $300 novarossi or $300 trinity extech II. Basically like you said Ron It is a $200 engine that is comparable in everyway to any other $300+ engine out there. I will not buy anything else there is no reason to spend more money The B5 is just a killer engine at a killer price. I took this thing apart too when I first got it and The quality is xlnt. There were no corners cut on this engines.... I will be racing my B5 at the Kyosho winter nationals in a couple weeks and will have the Werks B5 out there for Battle!!!. I have always been a big WERKS fan and customer and they have never let me down and once again with the B5 WERKS adds another killer engine to there lineup!!

jmudbug, as rogma (thanks!) mentioned they are set up out of the box to run 30%. Thanks also about the comment about our customer service! B5's should be back in stock at A-main around the end of next week.
Team_Orange, thanks for giving the recommendation on RJD, definitely worth a shot! On a side note I'm thinking about looking into finding some trackside dealers for our fuel to try and get it out to more location so if any of you guys might possibly be interested in repping our fuel in their local area please do not hesitate to send me a PM! clinttredway, thanks for picking up one of our engines! Please let me know what you think once you get it broken in! Brad S. thank you for the info on the 2045 pipe. Just out of curiosity which other pipes did you test the engine with? Racejunkie, take a look at the heidmann1's answer right below here. He gives a really good overview of the differences in performance between our different engines. Frankly it really depends on the type of tracks that you run on. The B7 Pro is my opinion untouchable when it comes to mid and top so if you are running on high speed, flowing tracks this would be my choice. If you are running on our standard US style shall we call them supercross style tracks (big jumps, tight turns where you need a lot of bottom) then I would go with the B5 which also has better run time. Again they are both great engines it's just up to you to decide monster top and bottom B7, power band shifted down a bit B5. Hope this helps! heidmann1, thanks for the feedback and also the break down of how our different engines perform, as I mentioned above I think that your spot on with this! Thanks again!! |

Np, I race with Mike B here in Texas. I do not think there are many B5's running here yet... I will be breaking it in tonight and running it some tomorrow.

ok, i ran 5 tanks thru my b5 today and i am already impressed! this thing will idle forever without loading up. after a small bit of tuning and an idle adjustment, i had it running around 220 and it rips! :sneaky:
I had been running a modded RB S5 and all I have to say is my STOCK b5 blows it away.. I will be getting another for sure :) one last thing, I am running a JP-1 on the recommendation of a local pro (Mike B) as I could not get a 2013 and I am very very happy.. |
Can someone give me an idea about longevity on this engine, box stock, no parts pinches or bearing replacements. Run right, good tune, and broken in and maintained correctly. TIA, Jaz

Clintredway, thanks for letting us know how things are going! Sounds likeyour liking the performance so far! Please let me know what your thoughts are once you have the chance to get it fully broken in set to race tune! |
I will for sure. for the first time in a long time I have confidence in my engine.
question, I am using a P3 plug, is the preffered plug to use in most situations? |
I like the odonnell plug od97t medium heat range. they last a long time and cheaper than the os plugs. The p3 is a recommended plug for this engine also
