2013 needle settings?

I've finally got my 2013 for my b5(been waiting for a couple months for it) and wanted to know what I should expect as far as needle adjustments. I was using a jp-3 before. I'm running a 97t plug on 30%, low speed set flush, .7mm idle gap, high speed a half turn out from flush and about 1 gallon thru it. It's been running awesome, 220-240 temps and still a ton of pinch. I haven't done much with the high speed needle and a little concerned about the half a turn out from flush but it seems to like it there. I'm getting about 8 and a half min. run time(RC8T). So whats it gonna do with the new pipe? How much can I expect my run times to improve?

Its going to have more runtime and its going screeeaaaaaaammmm!!! Just make sure your needles are flush if you need to retune it. You may not have too. Just adjust it if it needs it.

It sounds like you are on the rich side. As Quad posted you may have to retune, just bring both needles flush again and retune. I am getting 10min right now with my 8t 2.0 with the b5/2013 but still on the rich side. You are going to love this combo for sure!

I have a 2013 I'm trying to fix. Stinger snapped off. I have a Mig but no alum. wire. Have a friend with a Tig but having trouble running him down. I'm wanting to try JB Weld but I don't think it will stand up to the heat.

Feedback please and thanks,
Rich

do yourself a favor and pick up a new 2013, the newer version's have a beefed up stinger that should prevent it from being damaged.

When you track down buddy have him try and re-attach the stinger but dont hold high hope's, the walls on most pipes are pretty thin and would take a pretty talented/knowledgeable welder to get it done without damaging it further.

PS JB weld will NOT work. ;)

It was one of the new 2013's. It broke off at the Ohio state fair race. Not really sure when it happened, but the buggy started having a low end bog and when I pulled off the track the stinger was broke off and the reinforced part was still attached. I tried to bend it back and it just snapped completely off.

oh man i not sure how you pulled that of i smacked mine into a wall at that race and still ding free lol.

was it a werks or sirio pipe? just wondering

boomgagem 10-02-2010 06:07 PM

6 gallons on mine, came off the track of a 20 minute main temping 230, took 1st. Werks rules

+2 on the new versions. The old thin walled ones worked really good but if you breathed on it wrong well you know what would happen lol! The new ones are in my opinion comparable to the JP pipes in durability plus they also have braced stingers!

On a side note for all of the team guys that have been waiting on fuel I processed all of the orders on friday and they will be shipping mid to end of next week! Sorry about the delay with this!!! For people waiting on our fuel from A-main it is also en-route to them too!

Lastly just an FYI me and Kotz are heading to the land of Pad Tai and Tai Iced Tea on Monday to do some testing for the upcoming worlds so I will not be on here that much next week. I will try to hop on every couple of days to check on things but i have no idea how the internet connection down there will be so if you do not immediately get a response to PM's etc. please know that it is not because I'm ignoring them or anything. Back in the office the tuesday after next, until then.. happy racing!

Regards,

Ron

It was the werks pipe. I should add though, that the track was as solid as concrete, and if you seen how I was driving it might make more sense. They used 500 pounds of sugar ( at least that's what I was told)to make it hold together for the entire weekend. It was a crazy surface. Tires would only last for 1 or 2 qualifiers before they were slicks. I learned one thing though. If I ever show up to a track, and after my first practice run my tires are worn out, I'm leaving.
