Ron, what do you use to measure the .5-.7 gap?

Get an assorted size bag of safety pins. I found a really small one at .5 and a bigger one at .7. Clip the sharp end off with wire cutters.

So now I'm confused, 2057 or 2013 on this engine in my 8T 2.0? The 2057 sounds like the pipe to go with, I like that its tunable, but always ran a 2013 on the B7's. I don't need super stupid bottom end just more than my tuned .21 GRP. What sucks is the fact that its hard to justify buying anything nitro with the nitro scene being so dead, locally.

I know the Werks pipes are the ticket for this engine, but is there a more cost efficient pipe?

vypr2002 08-02-2010 10:14 PM

I know, right? WTF do pipes gotta cost so much. thats where the get ya, they make a great engine for 200, but the kicker is it needs a specific pipe to be great so they pop the extra cost onto the pipe!!! I got it all figure out!!!

J/K Ron, I am very happy so far with my motor, will get my pipe soon too.

Lol, sounds like the cat is out of the bag now! I'm going to have to go back and do things Nova style and charge you $300 or so for the engine and sell you the pipe as a manifold for $25 bucks and separate pipe for $65. That way you will save five bucks on the pipe lol!

Realistically though the pipes are quality products made in Italy. Labor there costs much more than in Asia. The build quality on them are really good and you have to also figure in transport costs on them. Unfortunately a pipe takes up just as much volume as an engine so when it comes to shipping it costs me just as much to ship a single pipe here that sells for $90 as it costs to send an engine that will sell for $200+.

I know the comment was made in jest, but the werks pipes, like the jammin pipes, are some tough stuff, and well deserving of their price.

I just started running the 2057 with my b5 instead of the jp-4 and I wish I had done this 5 gallons ago. The fuel economy is significantly better and the power is WAY better. Running the jp4 was like just throwing exhaust gasses down the header pipe with a "bah, screw it, it will all work out" attitude.

On my first run with the 2057, the church choir in my head went "aaaahhhhhhhh" a frick'n halo appeared around my b5 -- it was divine.

If you have the 2013 already, thats the way to go, no need to buy the 2057, if you feel too much bottom, limit the throttle with the radio or get a restrictor 6mm, play with the ckutch there is a few things that you can do. And you will have more botton than the GRP no matter what pipe (2013,2057, etc...) GL

I look and look and look for something comparable with the B5 and pipe, I can't found anything that can be close to this engine for the price. I was using the 2035 great pipe, now 2013, I wich I would make this decision before, WHy? this engine it feels completly different a lot of powerr everywhere. Pipes are part of the performance of the engine for example OS likes 2050 - 2060 others engine other pipes. If you want to get the must out of this mill this is the way to go 2013 - 20257 period. No complaint, this is one of the must bang for buck out there that can kick some @ss any time.

Very nicely writen. I thought that I was the only one that had that much of a love for a finely tuned engine lol. :D

Well, let me tell ya, I'm definently kicking myself in the ass for every getting rid of that 2013 pipe now. If I already had it, there would have been a B5 sitting in my truggy a looooong time ago. I'm really not much for limiting throttle travel and I drive fairly conservative. I just want more punch with the same tuneability and runtime that my GRP has. Upstairs, there isn't many engines that can run with the tuned GRP, imo, but down low it is certainly soft. I did buy it originally for buggy racing though and for that, it is got to be one of THE best engines in the biz. Too bad I don't run buggy anymore though lol.

I still had a half a tank of fuel in a losi truggy with b5 and 2013 after a 6 min q and it was still alittle fat!. Granted i don't have a spacer in the tank and a decent size fuel filter. I think i'll make 10 minutes no problem.

Was it at or above the seam? what carb restrictor and clutch springs are you running. If your getting 10 minutes with byrons I'll be over 11+ with my fuel.

Can't really remember...seems like it was right at the seam. Running the stock 7mm and 2 green and 2 gold springs with dynamite max life shoes. It was definitely alittle fat by about 2 hours on the hsn as well. I'm running byrons 30%. No spacer in tank and a fuel filter.
