I loctite it every time. Haha. I'd rather it be hard to get off than have it loosen up during a race, which has happened to me in the past.

Thanks. I'll try it both ways and see what gets me closest to how the losi 454 lines up. I haven't had any clutch, mesh, or bearing issues with its alignment so i'll try and match that. Do folks use loctite on the nut that holds the flywheel on the crank? I never have with the 454 but just wanna be sure.

Ive only lost a flywheel once. That was on my 454 not using loc-tite. Always use loc-tite on your flywheel nut and clutch bell screw. Not fun DNfn because one or the other falls off. Plus a gas tank and new clutch bell. They will get destroyed if either comes loose.

Here -- I'll start. I finished 4th in the A in expert buggy with my b5 and was very pleased as well -- especially since I've really abused this motor and it still runs strong at 5 gallons -- it is just now to the point where it will die after being loaded up too long when hot. I was running in the 230 - 260 range temp wise it was VERY hot and humid and you had to run on the lean side to get the speed needed for that front straight. After the main, I temped right at 260 moments after going down the front straight. I had my pit man lean out the top an hour before the race during warm up as it was just a bit fat with the moisture that had moved in -- it was dialed in the main.

Where were you running with high temps and humidity? I'm in Phoenix dealing with the same thing and having some issues with the tune and wondering where your needles might be.Thanks! Oh & I'm running a b5 2013 combo p3 plug with Byrons 30%

I wouldn't say you have to use it, I don't on my flywheel nut, that one time you put to much and try to take it off hopefully you got a piston locking tool, (or another tool to hold the piston in place from rotating). trust me I've seen it a half a dozen times. On the clutch screw I put a dab of blue loctite, but I'm the only one out of my buddies that do that, I also make sure I use a screw with a 2.5mm head, and I've also seen screws with a 2.0mm head strip half a dozen times.

I am sure this has ben asked before but with 299 pages don't have time to go through all that, How well does an 086 pipe do with this motor?

It should do pretty good. The top end will scream it might tame the bottom down a little. But I'm also comparing it to the 2057 werks pipe. No pipe is as good on these engines as the werks pipe. But the 086 will do fine. I'm not sure how runtime will be though.

Thanks, motor would be goinh on a truggy

It was great in truggy, but the B5 in my buggy, with the old carb, wouldn't go over 6 minutes of run time and flamed out 6 times in the 45 minute A-Main. I need a 2010 carb, but I'm reluctant to pay $70+. I've tried swapping the 2010 carb from truggy to the buggy, it fixed my issues in buggy and caused the issues in the truggy engine.

how much time you getting in truggy.. hardcore tracks eats up fuel...

Semple 07-13-2010 07:46 AM

I can pit at 8 minutes easily in truggy. Seems to go about 10 mins in practice.

kgombe 07-13-2010 07:48 AM

nice.. i have 1 but dont have time to break it in... as the only time i have is on race days.. and the next few weekends i have other crap to do... just my luck... see you ate the next race

Semple 07-13-2010 07:52 AM

I idled two tanks on the box, then did the wide open throttle method, broke it in in about an hour. Seems aggressive, but it worked.

Maximo 07-13-2010 07:56 AM

We are running a easy 10 minutes with out B5's..... blowing the backside off everything else down the straight too ! wicked engines !
