Kortz is here and I can't wait to see the B6 in action. I'll be representing AZ, and Team Terribles and when practice starts tomorrow, I'll be snapping pics of EVERY B5 and B6 powered ride here, and I'll post them when I get back. This race is gonna be huge and it'll be on live RC:nod::nod::nod:

Hey try to get a nice video of the B6 running. Good luck to all the guys running the Werks engines and have fun out there. That what is all about.:tire:

Just ordered a B5 and 2013 yesterday! Switching from the VSpec Pro Mod. I am an O.S. fan and do love the motor but why not run a motor that is equally as good for 1/2 the price!!! I hope that is the case. 10+ min on the VSpec and can keep up with anything on the straight. Can I expect the same from the B5??? Sounds like it from all your comments. Anyway....I am giving it a shot!

yes you will have the same! this engine gets really good runtime with either werks pipe. It'll pull anything down the straight

yup and also to have them on here to chat with is awesome as well. That alone is why I bought a B5. I don't even have the motor yet and already thinking about getting the B6 as well lol

hey Ron, just wondering i have a few b5 motors or a collection i should say lol, would the b6 piston/sleeve/crank work in an old b5 case? i know the parts arent out yet but just a thought for future reference.

Hey Jason, feel free to post b6 questions on the b6 thread but yes there is some interchangeability between the two.

Spoke to kortz today who's down in the Bama! He'snfeeling good and turning some quick lap times in practice so everything looking good! For those wondering he's running a stock B5 at this race, unfortuantely we did not get the production B6 engines in time to ship them down to him and have enough time for him to break them in before flying to race.

Tuning question for you guys - My B5 has been running great. I have it paired with a 2035 in my RC8T (2013 on the way) and I love it.

I was checking out videos on youtube and found this one:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JVYG3DYqs4M

I realized that I may not have the tune that I thought i do....In the video the motor immediately returns to the low idle after blipping....Mine runs on a bit before returning to the low idle - not a long time, maybe 2-3 seconds then it goes back to the low idle.

What would cause the idle to run on? - my first thought is a rich bottom which would cause some extra fuel to be in the case that would need to burn off before returning to the low idle. Any thoughts/opinions?

Werks 06-03-2010 10:03 PM

It's been my experience that it is usually a lean condition. If you stop and think about it the idle speed of the engine is dictated by the air fuel ratio. So a rich condition i.e. more fuel + less air= a low idle, a lean condition i.e. more air + less fuel + a high idle. If you chop the throttle there is very little air going into the engine, if there is also very little fuel in the case you will end up with a high idle (or a lean condition) for a few seconds until sufficient fuel flowes back into the case. Just my .02 for what it's worth!

Well I got 4 tanks threw my new B5 2013 combo and all I can say is WOW this is a sweet setup... On the first fire up I had warmed the engine to about 190 deg. and had the fuel lines primed and glow nite in hand. I gave it a quick bump and it had life for about 2 sec. another bump and it fired right up and idled like an already broke in engine! I am amazed by how easy this is going.. I put my car down in my driveway and started driving, I checked the temp and it was 170 deg. so I leaned her out 2 hrs on both needles to get her at 200 deg.. By doing 2 hrs that got me within 190-200 deg and this engine feels great so far and sounds KILLER with the 2013 pipe.. I am one very happy X OS guy!

Don't forget that the motor is going to run different without load while sitting on the box. Before chasing the holy grail of instant idle return, observe what it does coming off throttle when it's on the ground. I've found that some times I have a high idle return on the box that I can't tune out without making the top end overly rich on the ground, but when I tune the top end like I want it, it idles down perfect on the ground, yet will still sometimes high idle for a moment on the box -- usually following a good second or two on the throttle to clean it out.

In other words, don't chase what it does on the box :).
