i ran the 086 last night and the buggy was great and truggy was ok ....both motors raced prepped.. just wondering if would help truggy alittle more smoother.... i maybe running the wrong clutch springs tooo i see you run hot bodies too what springs you use

Hey G_Word, hope all is well. Can I ask you why your selling the JS? I see you had the head off so just curious if there is a problem or something?

The 2041 will make the engine more aggressive on the bottom.

Ok, just asking, I really want everyone to have a good experience with the JS engines.

Im loving thise engine my self im upto 3 fullmods with a 9901 pipe now just need some more chassi to put 3rd one in :D wish I had more time to run them also :tire:

rookie042 07-26-2010 01:47 PM

If you are looking for a linear motor with killer run times the JS is for you. Many of the guys that are running them have all given great feed back on the power production and fuel consumption when teamed up with EBMods fuel.

Hey ed bridges, just wanted to say thanks to the farris guys for helping me a lot this saturday at the r/c pro race. I had a few issues (me) with my js motor and they were more than willing to help and show me which way to go with it. In the few minutes i spent talking to them i learned more about cars and engines than i learned in a year of running r/c. Thanks agin, they were a great help with the js engine and me....

JUD 07-26-2010 06:39 PM

The JS is great!!:tire: I was running the OD99t plug. I switched to the OD97t and it runs and idles much better. Can imagine a better truggy engine:D

bopracer 07-30-2010 03:09 AM

I have had my JS for less than 2 gallons and I was wondering what I should replace first? Should I replace the rod, bearings or what? Any help would be great. It is going great, no problems to mention.

malcnz 07-30-2010 04:00 AM

Personally I like to do the bearings(ceramics) and rod early on as they get very stressed early on with the breakin process...when doing rod get new wrist pins and the main pin that runs through the piston as they are cheap

if it isn't broke dont fix it. when you have the engine out just give it a rock at BTC to feel the bearings, and look it over for any possible leaks. if all is good run it!

My last JS .21 I got 9 gallons before i retired it, and didn't replace anything.

Thanks Joe, I will see how it goes and keep an eye on it. But for now, let it rip!

Gidday Guys ,

Looking for some feedback on the standard JS engine and which pipe suits it best ...

j_blaze14 07-30-2010 06:28 PM

standard is very torquey, it hits hard then just keeps going. i got one used and am looking for ways to soften it up, way up. its almost undriveable even with a soft clutch. problem with the soft springs is it seems it eats up shoes quicker. i even have a super tall gearing on the rc8t, 14/48. track is usually pretty loose but on the days its sticks it will come in handy. i tried 2035, jp-3, 053 and by far the 086 suits the stock best.

Paul I have been using the VP Pro 3023 pipe , with a Axe Rossi header (@6mm longer than std VP) strangely I also heard that the Axe 2050 with the VP header works well too...

Haley now uses 3023/axe header as well I believe..

I personally run a discontinued 2041...but for overall perfomance you can't go wrong with the Dynamite 086!

Mod Motor

Hi. The locations I would be running this motor if I purchase it is on a track that is tight. Not a lot of time to open up the engine. Occasionally, I would be running at Rescue Just outside of Sacramento, Ca I generally don't push my motors and the seem to last forever.

I also run O'donnell 30% Nitro and have had good success with this fuel.

Generally need something with great run times and a lot of bottom end.

How does this motor work in this category??

Thanks

nova 9901 works awsome and a p5 plug on my full mod in a 6t

gdux 08-01-2010 08:48 AM

Race Prepped JS .21's went 1-2 in buggy and 1 in truggy yesterday at our local track. The truggy race was won on fuel mileage. There were roughly 5-6of them spread out through both classes, none of which had an issue and ran like champs.

hlpressley 08-01-2010 11:35 AM

Ok guys does anyone have a fresh serving of crow that I can have? I am going to need some to eat. :D

I came on this thread a few weeks ago really upset with the performance of my JS Race Prep. I went as far as to call it junk and a paper weight. After rethinking what I was doing and some help from a local racer who really knows motors and tuning I couldn't be happier with this mill. It just flat out rips in my truggy. I have since put another gallon on it and haven't had a single problem. It is still a little cold natured to get started but once you get it up to temp hold on! It has never flamed out one time even at a big race two weeks ago when most everyone was flaming (100+ degrees outside) my JS kept screaming. On top of all of this I can get 12+ minutes in my truggy with the 086 pipe. Not sure how it gets any better than this.

With all of the above said I would like to formally apologize for my previous statements about this motor. I was wrong and shouldn't have said the things I said without giving it another chance with an experienced tuner.

Now if anyone can tell how to properly reduce the power of this thing I would appreciate it. Waaaay too much power for me.
