your losing HP, runtime, tune consistency, and if you ever go in too far on your needles you will have detonation with that hot of a plug. please Chris get some OS p4's or colder.

chim after reading what i said it kinda didnt explain what i meant. os and odonnel plugs have dif. threading. switching back to os and then trying to go back to odonnell could cause problems with air leaks forming at plug. im not saying that theres anything wrong with odonnell plugs they run good but just switching back and forth could be bad.

Bryce Carter, Mark Flora, and myself all qual. in the Truggy A Bryce had the Tq, and win Flora was qual. 3rd and I was 5th. the js engines seem to run great with all of us running different pipes. so with that we will see how next week goes with the cash race at HCRC. thanks again to lucky 7 and E.B. Mods

jmpn02 03-14-2010 07:22 AM

FYI I have been running OD plugs also and love them. I think the performance gains from a p4 are minimal.(splitting hairs) That's just my opinion.
Also if I am understanding this , The engine is not pipe sensitive but is plug sensitive ??? Anyway I love this engine it rocks.

the efficiency gains are far from minimal buddy. ;) bottom line is EBMods recommends a OS P4 as the hottest plug you should run in this engine and anyone running a P3 or hotter should remove and re-tune with a OS P4.

why buy an engine and not run what the designer/manufacture suggests for optimum performance.

Fletcher6371 03-14-2010 02:06 PM

dumb question. I got a Race Prep, going to run a P4 with a Dyn 086. what carb insert is recommended. ALSO the bottom of my RacePrep has "23" etched into it (just wondering what that means lol) thanks

I run the 7mm. the numbers are just to help us ID them. thanks!

allaboutwho02 03-15-2010 05:46 AM

Well I finally ran the EB Mods Race Prepped JS racing engine on an outdoor type of track indoors. Been running on a small indoor track here in Iowa all winter. Was nice to run on a BIG track. I run them in both buggy"MBX6" and truggy "MBX6T". All I can say is wow! Power is killer and the run time is easily 10+ minutes. With the 7 mm res as well. I have been running the motor for a while but this is the true test for them.
The ONLY pipe and plug you should run is the 086 dynamite and the p4. I run the EB mods fuel as well and it IS better then Byrons. Better run times and the motors run cooler and crisper.

David Bradford

bcarter007 03-15-2010 08:01 AM

hey allaboutwho02 im in the same boat as u....the motors are awesome too...hey we've got our out with a bang cash and trophy race this sat and a couple of guys from iowa are coming again u should come we've got one of the biggest indoor tracks in the nation check it out hcrcracing.com
take care...bryce

blktransam 03-15-2010 12:05 PM

I was thinking of going to hcrc..but 5 hr drive :( I race with Dave and really can not wait to get outdoors with this engine....I am not getting the bottom end punch I am wanting out of it on the indoor track, hopefully once outside it will be good to go..whats eveyones needle settings?

bcarter007 03-15-2010 12:54 PM

ya i know 5hrs is tough but we got guys coming from 8 states and its the last race and the new layout is really sweet!! we have practice from 4pm-10pm on friday and track opens up at 8am racing at noon....j-dub just told me that joe and ed are thinkin of making the trip out to race with us so it would be a great time.....hope to see you guys there....bryce oh the needle settings well i leaned the bottom about 5hrs and top about 6hrs from the breakin that ed had done so thats the best i can give ya...lol

Sholler 03-15-2010 12:58 PM

After reading all the good things about this mill, i might have to get me one..

Anyone tried them with a Nova 9886 pipe and a 41029 header?

bcarter007 03-15-2010 01:05 PM

oh and bottom end punch is not a problem at all i mean it hits on bottom and mid like a champ....im running the full modded with dyn 086 in truggy i threw the race prep on the buggy but im gonna order me another full modded for buggy....it has more bottom end punch than my speed had, but honestly not the top end of speed it does lack some top end speed, but i really dont think it matters cause most fast guys i know all run 6 and 6.5 res in outdoors anyway like jesse robbers and jeremy black so speed doesnt win races anyway i dont think.....sholller ur coming this weekend arent ya??

Sholler 03-15-2010 01:13 PM

Yes Sir!!

Will be there Friday when the doors open up!

Gotta finish breaking in my Nova plus-4 and do a few setup adjustments on the truck. From the looks of the track, I`m gonna have to use some breaks,I hate using breaks :)

blktransam 03-15-2010 01:21 PM

I too have a full mod and a race prep on EB mods 30%, I am currently runing AE2035 pipes as I had vspecs prior, I just ordered a 086 so we will see what happends...

the 9886 is the way to go if you dont mine the extra coin, but for me id rather save a few bucks and have a pipe that lasts longer. idk what header your post was about but if its short its good.

Sholler 03-15-2010 01:51 PM

I already have a 9886 pipe on my MBX6T, I run it with the Novarossi 41029 header on a Extech 24.The 41029 header is the one that has to be run on the mugens because of the short clearance space that Mugen allowed from the rear of the motor to the mudguards.

The 41029 is a short header

blktransam 03-15-2010 01:53 PM

Joe- I have ran the 2035 on every RB, and vspec I have owned with great results so good I sold EVERY pipe I has except my 2035's LOL...Ed said it was a good pipe on the dyno so I wasnt worried, like I said mine just lagged the low end compared to my EB MODS vspecs is all...I am sure the 086 will fix that even though the 086 is a "mid-high" pipe but who knows lol

that sux you sold all your pipes! i know the feeling and will never sell any of my pipes because of it. as for pipes most seem to run good on the dyno, but good is always then compared to the 086 which is best! the 86 is what all the development testing was done with. So everyone should have some sort of 86 to run even if you want to experiment with other pipes which we do encourage and appreciate any feedback we can get. thx!

086 is top end pipe

pipes work different on every engine. forget what you heard about being a "top" or "Mid" pipe.

yea maybe a line of pipes that was made for a certain line of engines, but not in this case.

blktransam 03-15-2010 02:34 PM

speedy- thats what I said which is confusing on why it would make my bottom end better LOL but will try anything rigth now...

KThatcher 03-15-2010 03:41 PM

I have been running these engines for a few months now and I’m so impressed with performance, fuel mileage and durability. I mainly race at Revelation raceway and there are a few other guys who have them out there and most of us agree that this engine is a really really good. I have been running it with EB mods fuel 30%, O.S. p4 plugs and 086 pipe. I tried a lot of different pipes. 2013, 2057, 2058, 2056(baseball bat), and 2060 and the best all around IMO is the 086. I have been pushing 10 minutes at Rev running at 220 which is very impresive compared to when I ran Sirios and would struggle to ge 7 minutes. I know Ed is working on a pipe so I’m pretty sure that will be the way to go when it is available. If there are any people who have this engine and need any help whatsoever please come find me and I will do my best to help you out.

Thanks again Ed and Joe

Kevin Thatcher

jbright33 03-15-2010 04:49 PM

i just dont understand all this pipe and glow plug fuss. i can kinda c the pipe cause everyone likes diff setup (hard hitten bottom, good top, or medium). but some of you guys need to relize edd has done many hours of testing and the motors compression and everything is setup to run a p4 plug not odonnell. so y not run the suggested setup...

Who8mySandwich 03-15-2010 05:51 PM

I really like the RE10. When i put JS on buggy i use the 9886. Both pipes work great. Hopefully the weather will cooperate so i can get it to stretch it's legs at Hobby Hut this Sunday.

I saw someone post that the OD plug is too hot and if you go too far on the needles it may detonate, yet when I looked the plugs up on Amain the P4 is listed as "super hot" and the OD 97 is a medium ???

J-DUB 03-16-2010 07:28 PM

Well its almost time to race again and after a few weeks of running this engine I feel like it is a really nice mill and has plenty of power. As I stated earlier this week the guys around here are all running different pipes and the end results are the same it performs well. I have been running p3 but I got some p4s on the way and that is what I am going to go with in the race prep as recomended. Thanks again to E.B. Mods and Lucky7.:)

EB Mod JS Engine took me to the A Main at Silver State!!

Wow!!!! What a week of racing. I'm mentally and physically spent:).. I made it to Hot Rod Hobbies in So Cal for the Tues night nats. The guys from RC Car Mag were there to help me tune my engine and work the bugs out of my truggy. Back in Las Vegas for Silver State where I ended up bumping my way into the truggy A main after qualifying in the C main. Whaaaaaaaaaat I made the A MAIN.............I still can't believe it:cool::cool::cool:

Thank you to all my family and friends that made this possible. The best part of the trip was coming home to my girls:)

My race prep JS engine started and ran flawlessly all week. Great power and fuel economy. Everyone who helped me over the week was very impressed with how well this engine was working in my truggy. I talked with a couple other JS owners and they all have had the same results. Great job with the engine. I can't wait to race it again!!!!!!

On the 086 pipe, do you use the standard 086 or the 086 high speed?
