i have never done any rc drag racing

dont really know exactly what you would need out of the engine
i imagine lots of torque ? crazy rpm's ?

sounds like onroad engine?

Jaz240 06-12-2009 11:50 AM

Hey Monty, I just opened my +4...theres a really weird looking copper colored film inside the carb throat. It doesn't look like rust, buts its kinda freaking me out..Should I spray it out, and with what?

mfrosty 06-12-2009 01:35 PM

Brian at PTM got me straight on what to look at in terms of engines, and yes he reccommends an on road with LOTSA R's. It has a 2 speed setup so torque isn't AS important, I can gear it to stay in the engines powerband.

I'm trying out a prototype NR exhaust gas cooler tomorrow :D

41005 or 41001 , i wish the 41001 would become available

you will be amazed at the difference in changing to that style header would make .

the ofna header that comes with the ofna pipes works excellent also

i changed pipes a few times on your engine and an 86 style pipe worked very very good on it . ;)

Is this a company that you own? If so you might want to look into this .

Hi Monty,
I am looking to purchase another motor for my 8T 2.0. I have been running an OS Speed and doesn't seem to be enough in the basement for my track. Several guys are running the O.S. 28xz and seem happy, but seems to be overkill to me. I am a v-spec guy and have been running them for the last few years, but have been looking across the border at other brands. The race tracks I attend are around 6000ft elevation. In your vast experience, what mill would you recommend?

MFigueroa 06-14-2009 06:03 PM

hey monty, i tried the 41005 header with the 9853 n wow! what a world of difference! it was like night n day. :D

xxxrcnitro 06-14-2009 07:07 PM

I run 21b2000 JP modded & I'm looking @ a re size after only 4 gallons. It will not idle & dies every time I break(with idle set screw maxed)I have absolutely no pinch left.Is this a normal life span for this P&S? I used the heat cycle method running on the box using heat gun to regulate temps 210-212 F rich for five tanks, before I set it on the track and started tuning. It ran great, love the engine! I also had plenty of smoke exiting corners:confused:I've never sucked dirt or ran to lean It seems to run its best around 200-230F running stock header with o53 pipe OS#8 or A3.Now all it does is lean bog and flame out!!!! I had a few of my race buddies check it out bottom line needs a pinch. Also do you think I should attempt a pinch with an e-bay sleeve pincher? I have seen guys use these but,I have not. What is the error margin & how accurate are these, If I take my time and rotate making small adjustments.
Let me know what you think....

raya racing is the guy

sounds interesting , something had to have happened to the engine for it to be done after only 4 gallons

those are both very hot plugs , i dont care to discuss anything with plugs anymore

sounds like you want a .28 but really want a .21 ?;)

toro nero or fms

Yes, I guess you are right but I don't like the run time of the big blocks. My local track is quite technical with jumps right out of a turn with little run up to them. Other tracks I visit (out of town) are quite open.
A few around here say the Toro Nero have a smaller tuning window than the v-specs. Is this correct? Could I run a Losi RE11 pipe with the Toro Nero?

Monty,
Thanks for the "help" this weekend. Without you, I couldn't have had R/C weekend that I did.

P4 in the MBX6T was definitely smooth. I didn't realize it until I ended up qualifying 5th for the A main. Never touched the setting you had on the motor and the thing ran smooth for two days straight.
