Monty, thanks for the birthday wishes. I have a quick question, have you ran any other truggies other than the Kyosho? I have a Losi and I talked my wife into getting a new one and another Fusion engine for it. Just don't know which one to get. Losi will be coming out with another one soon, but not happy with their recent customer service and their lies. HB will probably be coming out with one and they are really cheap now. Mugen will also be probably coming out with a new one and possibly associated. What do you think is a good truggy, I am an aggressive driver and like to pull the throttle as much as possible, would the associated be the ticket? I have heard many of the Kyosho parts interchange on the AE cars. Just figured I would ask what you think. No matter what I get I will probably have to order spares online as they don't sell many truggies here. I do run Xray and they are coming out with the xt9 but not sure when. I would post a thread in the other forum but dont want to hear from all the fan boys, I am kinda pushing towards AE or waiting for the Xray or geting a TIX xt9 but anything is really an option. I can get an almost new HB for about $120 but I really want new what is your take, and would you go x7 or x5l

I heard from a friend that the low profile cooling head from nova fits the fusion engines. Specifically the X3L. Is that true?

Not wthout getting the block milled

Not a fan of the ultra low pro heads personally or else the engines would come with them :D

How does the Kyosho handle? The biggest problem I have with all my cars and buggies is at times I am a bit heavy on the throttle so going in to a corner if I have too much corner speed with my finger on the throttle it pushes really hard, same as sometimes when I have a lot of forward momentum even off the throttle sometimes it pushes hard, but other times it just whips right around. I have the Active diffs in my Losi so when it starts to push I can tap the breaks and it will swing around. I am sure this is more of a setup issue than driver, but would the Kyosho be better than the Mugen, price is a concern, but not that BIG of a concern

I can't speak for him, but I have a new Bonitto with the really low head. It runs great, well the other day I saw a guy had an older bigger Nova head in his tool bag, as a joke I asked to use it, when I took the temp after running a tank (on the side of the block) the engine was 10 degrees cooler than it was before, and 5 degrees cooler on the head button. I put my regular head back on it and ran another tank, came in and it was a bit hotter, nothing really MUCH hotter but as I said about 10 and 5 degrees different. So I do like the bigger heads, never realized the difference until I tried it. The best thing about the smaller head is it doesn't get scratched because it is lower :D

Thanks Jeromerc!! It just confirmed my thought:-)

I hope you reconsider in the future and allow the customers to have a choice.

Argument made by some that the engine runs 5 or 10 degrees cooler and that is better is pointless. If that was the case we would all be running with engine heads the size of the truggy tire.

we all want our stuff to look nice (that's why we pay all that money for custom painted bodies) and the fact is that the tall cooling heads get scratched very fast. It seems to be a trend set by nova and many companies are now following it.

All I'm asking is that maybe next time you make changes to the engines (2014 models) it would be great if customer had a choice to order low profile head.

I think Jim and Monty bypassed pretty looks and went straight to beautiful performance!

+1 :nod::nod::nod::nod::nod:

Besides the small difference in heat there are also strength issues as well. The guy had the spare big head for me to try because he had broken a few Novarossi heads so he keeps a spare with him. I didn't keep spare heads when I ran Orion and people usually don't when they run OS Speed engines.

Try this, if you want the new head, cut the bottom off of an old one keeping the mounting point then stack the lighter version on the top, you can order any of the lighter version heads you want from Ebay or from a novarossi dealer, have it powder coated to your specs and run the piss out of it. It will be slightly higher but not much and it will look like the new design.

Monty, just give me a heads up if you hear anything on the new truck, but also why you like the Kyosho the best. I wanna know why you like it after all your opinions do matter to me :nod:

Freak beakages happen in RC all the time, but if the cooling head is low profile and not dragging in the dirt chances are it will not break. If there is any justification that makes sense is the cost. It probably costs little more for the new style block and head ...

Good luck at the Roar Nationals Monty. I checking out the Fantasy RC League on LiveRC. In terms of the Fantasy League, they currently have you ranked 19th overall. Good job!
