While I was inspecting the idle gap setting I noticed the slide was sticking real bad and wouldn't slide shut leaving a huge idle gap I took it all apart and put it back together and everything seems to be in working order now.

What are some methods of setting the idle gap correctly? I don't have any small gauges or anything like that.

Mic something like a sewing needle or small paper clip to get a size.

A throttle return system is a GREAT idea ;)

Sounds like you found your "tuning issue" ;)

Those are just baseline settings to get it going btw , in case you get reallly lost

Yes I always run a small rubber band as a return. The engine is not in the car right now so the slide was sticking on its on and wouldn't shut all the way so I'm thinking that was the problem with the tuning.
Thank you for the baseline settings and all the info you have given me.

Monty, have you tried the heavy buku shoes on a truggy? What is the setup, I got the new shoes on the clutch but can't remember the setup you recommend

pipes

I am running the 2096 with 41001. Looking for a little more low end, top is solid. I also have a 2045 pipe. Monty, I saw you mentioned it is almost the same? Would I see more or less low with the 2045?

I also have available the 41021 header and the 41005 (maybe overkill). I was also thinking to just clutch up a bit. I am running losi combo with black/green springs. Might try 1 black 1 green 2 gold or 2 green 2 gold.

Any thoughts on a pipe pipe change that will add a little more low end without killing the top? May just need to clutch up, once it get's on the pipe down low its good, just that initial clutch slip.

Try the 41021 header. It will bring back some low end without sacraficing to much top end.

Just curious , how many pro drivers use a round ) header instead of the double bend ] header ? Jus sayin ;)

I run a set of Hedman, ceramic coated, pro mod side exit headers.

Oh wait wrong engine haha.

Maxxed-out 06-01-2013 06:58 PM

Tried out these headers last weekend.

Ran a 45 min main on 1 pit stop and they throw flames!

Hey Monty, are saying the pros run the round header or the double bend? I can't tell. My local Novarossi guy runs a round header in buggy and a double bend in truggy.

Which pipes?

For buggy: 41021 header and either a 9901 or 2096 is what racers run. I think the entire Nova Team is set on the 41021 header and most run the 9901 on everything but the largest tracks. Of course those guys have serious throttle and steering control so they can use all the bottom end power the 9901 has. I got to spend some time with a Team Driver yesterday, i was way in his rear view at the end of the 20 minute main (7 laps down :( but I still finished 3rd :) ) And I got to watch him wheel a Keep-0ff 4 with the 41021 / 9901 combo, and that thing was screaming like a raped ape but never missed a beat running at 280 - 290 all day.
And btw the world champ ran the 41021/2096 combo. Take it for what its worth.
