Monty, I was running my Bonito this weekend and it killed a glow plug after about 1/2 tank of running. The plug had a good bit of use on it so I didnt think much of it, but I put a new one in and it did it again after about a 1/2 tank of running. What do you think would be causing this? Rod needs to be switched out? The motor has about 4.5 gallons it.

Shouldnt but it is possible

What plugs?

I was running C5tgc and a C6tgc. Did it to both of the plugs. What else would cause it to eat up a plug?

Rust and/or defective rear bearing, dirt through the airfilter etc. etc.. Did you drag the crank all the way to the front of the engine before you secured the flywheel nut?

nick64merc 12-19-2011 03:32 PM

Crank was pushed all the way forward no dirt to my knowledge has ever got into the motor. My Airfilters are always clean and well oiled. The motor has never sat for a long period of time and all of my stuff is stored in doors and the motor is rust free. I am going to open it up tonight and inspect everything.

Monty,
I have decided to make a switch back to Nova based motors for buggy for next year. I curently run at the club level about 2 times a month during the outdoor season and possibly running a couple larger regional events next summer.
I am thinking of the following motors:
P5XLT with your tuning, filled crank
plus21-4 buggy with your tuning, filled crank
Plus 21-4tuned with your tuning, filled crank
X7 standard (maybe filling in the crank)

I'm not sure of the difference between the 21-4 buggy and 21-4 tuned, any help there?
I would like the motor to be dependable, good run time, strong bottom end and a good top end or at least have enough torque to gear up if a track has longer straights. My pipe selection is Nova 9901, Orion 2058, and a Dynamite 086.
Whats you suggestion? I am trying to keep the entire purchase between $300 and $350. I also have the 17011 bearing at home to put in any motor that doesn't already have one.

I am not going to making the purchase until late winter early spring as I want to get your R2R break in, but at least your bench break in service. How much is the R2R service?
Thanks for teh help and sorry for the questions.
