losi collet on Nova Toro Nero

HI guys. I've been having a frustrating time trying to get the stock 8T 2.0 collet onto my TN engine. I broke a collet this moring trying to pry open and slide along the shaft. It appears that the tapered shaft of the engine is too thick and wont allow me to slide the collet sufficiently down the shaft. When I spread the collet out it seems to break... I almost broke my 2nd collet. IS the losi collet needed anyway?

Is the point of the collet to get over the entire shaft and rest on the large engine bearing? Is there an alternative collet out there that I can use with the Nova engine and losi aluminum clutch??

ANy pics for guidance out there - Please help!!

Thanks!

every single engine (big block .21-.28) has the same size o.d. on the shaft where the collet sits (7mm) . you are definitely doing something wrong , either post pics or find a knowledgeable local to help ya out .

this is kinda strange because from what i remember of the losi collet it was very loose and just slid right on the shaft

Ok thanks I'll double check. Is the collet supposed to go all the way down the shaft and on the engine bearing then or is it supposed to stay where the taper begins son the shaft?

are you pushing it on by hand ? or in the flywheel. just push it on all the way untill it touches the bearing, with the taper facing out by hand, it will fit.
