As i know you to be the engine guru that you are i got a question for you...

What is the best way to know when your Midrange needle is set where it should be on a three needle carb and can i tune the Mid needle after my LSN or before it?

Thanks for your help!!!

All of the "mid range needles" as they are refered to that I have ever used are best not touched!! LOL

If needed to be reset , they are usually all exactly flush with outside body of carburetor .

Just fyi there is a reason that our offroad carbs are not made with a mid needle anymore ;)

I have noticed on the vspecs that I have tuned for people that they like to have the mid needle adjusted in 2 hrs . ;)

Bengsch85 04-27-2010 08:00 PM

Thats what everyone local here has been telling me as far as dont fool with it much just leave it at factory spec! ;)

Ill see what i can do with LSN and HSN to set the tune and if all else fails ill swap it for my friends 2 needle carb!!

Thanks again

Is the shim stack on a 21BF around .80mm or less? Something like two copper .25mm and one silver .30mm?

Monty, that 2084 pipe was awesome on my p5 this weekend! It had the power of a 9853 with the runtime of a 9901. I liked it with the 41005 header. I can't wait to try it on my other novas;) Thanks, Mike

Cory Kerber 04-27-2010 10:04 PM

My N21R is .8 with 3 shims. 2-Silver 1-Copper. I'm assuming Silver=.35 Copper = .1

Mine came shimmed nicely from Monty.

I loved the pipe this weekend also , used it with 41021 and it made my 5 port work very well;)

Next time out I will try with a 41005 and see if there is any power difference in comparison to the 9853ss , I didn't notice any power difference if there was any

All the new engines are put out with .80mm for american market running 30%

Two x .30mm aluminum and 1 x .20mm copper

quick question, why does nova use flathead screws to secure the head? why not use a hex screw?

Easy!

Those damn hex screws drives me crasy! :flaming:

If you have the right flathead screwdriver, you will tighten and unscrew the head screw without any problem. Hex screws will become worn out after a shorter time.

Donīt you guys in use torx screws? They are so much better than hex.

As with anything you do mechanically , you should have the proper tools ;)

Why they use flathead ,that is a query for novarossi :)

I would venture to guess it has to do with not applying too much torque and warping the engineblock :D

I knew you would think of something insightful to say, thanks for the answer!

All I can do is hope the things I type get taken the right way

Anybody that actually knows me knows what I say and how I say it does not mean any ill feelings , disrespect or making people feel like a dumbass.

If anybody ever thinks I would do so intentionally , you have me way wrong

Happy motorin',
Monty
