check your thottle linkage, I had a V-spec that leaked really bad out the carb slide and filled the rubber boot and it would run down the carb, it was caused by not having a straight pull on the slide, I drilled a new hole in the servo horn and remounted it, and to my surprise it quit leaking, ran that engine the rest of the season with no problems
just an experience once for 2 cents
Make sure the carb is seated all the way down too, you really have to push down to get a good seat and get the top oring into the crankcase and hold it there and tighten the carb retainer bolt.

thats where I was going next, to rich on the bottom or carb venterical is to far open, RB engines like to just have a crack for an openning looking down the carb WITHOUT the restrictor in it for an idle setting, I would say 75% of the engines I see have the idle to high, pull the restrictor set the gap at 1mm, install the restrictor and re tune.

I would try this prior to changing the bearing.

There is an excellent sticky at the top of this Nitro Off road forum that pertains to a Tuning. Lots of it is centered around a too rich low end and how to get it correct. You should read that to give you a better idea if this may be the cause.

Those who have front bearing leaks can easily fix the problem by applying some silicone gasket sealant around the crankshaft before they put in the collet. This way the collet pushes the silicone on to the bearings inner race and seals up the metal to metal seal of the bearing and crankshaft.
Metal to metal can never be sealed properly.
Don't worry about the silicone getting in the engine since the crankshaft and inner bearing race offer enough sealing for solid materials just not enough for air or fuel.

s5 l2g with turbo button medium plug 2045 pipe and sidewinder 30 im getting a slight lean bog about 1-3 times a tank(when tanks full as well as about empty). temps are about 230. iv richened the bottom, went back through and retuned, changed clutch and done everything i can find. its not killing me but i know it shoulnt be that way. it was fine no bog with 086 and short header but the 2045 is just stronger. anybody have this with nova or rb that cant get to go away? normally between myself or with help with others tuning my engines run great...this is 1 flaw i can get by

Proud owner of a new RB "Hobby 9" 5 port. I raced it this weekend and had a great time doing so, I even managed to win the Amain first time out with it. It ran great all day, I tuned it thru out the day leaning it up little by little, not wanting to fully tune it to the max. I don't tune very high, I look for engine life over performance. I ran it in my Losi 8ight buggy with a dynamite 086, Byrons Race 25% Gen 2, #7 rescrictor, McCoy 59 plug, this netted me about 8 mins runtime. I even turned a good friend of mine to switch to a RB "Hobby" also after seeing that he had nothing but problems over the last year with a O.S. Vspec. I broke it in for him and tuned it thru out the day. It was great to see him do well without any problems and very rewarding when he thanked me and said it was the first time in 8th scale that he had fun.
