Running a B2103 S Low Profile, does anyone else have poor fuel mileage? Seems to run great, but I PUSH 6:30 fuel stops. Running a Venturi 6 in it as well. Is that a limitation with the carb?

My race partner has the low head 2103 and with only maybe a gallon on it if that is getting I would say around 8mins give or take a bit based on track.
The carb is actually supposed to be better for fuel mileage. We both run 6.5mm venturi
How much fuel do you have through engine?

I’ve been told the Samurai S03 is the same except for cooling head. With that being said I get good fuel mileage, between 8.5-9.5 depending on the track.

Sounds like you just need to lean it out. Because speeds are so fast, alot of folks try to stay rich, in order to tame it.

Hello all, I have a engine with a runtime of 1 Gallon. Very good shape…all bearings top! But I have a tuning issue.
I drove the engine to a good temperature….brake that my car stopped and the the engine fell in a very deep idle but ONLY for one or two seconds then it normalized automatically to a very good idle. Problem is….very often the engine dies. Hope someone has an idea

It looks like you have to adjust the trim more to the brake and raise the trim.
If you are sure in neutral the carburator is pushed against the idle screw then you have to look at the clutch for something like a sticking bearing or clutch shoe.

So what's the consensus on the best overall O.S. engine for buggy? Looking for great power output but also good mileage and easy tuning. Gets a little confusing trying to find all the differences between various models. Is the 2104 the latest?

I’ve begun running more OS & OS based engines and all of them have been great.
I think some better questions would be what are you looking for.
What’s your budget?
How do you want the power curve?
Current models of OS & OS based I’ve been running and pipes used are:
Protek Samurai S03 (75mm/2100)- costs a little less, has great power bottom to top but smoother bottom with this pipe and usually get around 9mins on tank
Ninja JX21-B06 (Hipex L50/2135)- costs a little less, crazy power overall w/pipe combo, also around 9mins on tank
In truggy:
OS B2104 (85mm/2090) - great power in truck. In buggy would run 80mm or 75mm header with 2100 pipe for smoother bottom and great top end. Getting between 8-9mins in truggy
OS B2103 type R (85mm/2090) - once broken in the power is awesome actually surprised me. I feel it’s a lot for buggy but would tone it down with 75mm/2100 pipe combo. Last truggy race pit at about 8.5min mark on looser track.
Some people talk smack about the carb on the S03 and the 22 series carbs on these new OS engines but I love them and have no issues. All engines idle smooth and have had no issues other then slight tuning adjustments with weather and early on as they broke in fully.
AD2 & Rhonda I’ve heard is great engine with smooth power curve.
Flashpoint FP02 is a popular low priced choice. It is a spec 2 rebranded. Great engine for both buggy & truggy. (I haven’t ran mine yet)
Ongaro engine is B2104 with a few changes internally. Supposed to smooth out the power band compared to standard 2104
All should get you 8-10mins on tank based on your tune, track size, and throttle control. I have a heavier trigger finger.
Hope this helps some.

Does anyone know if the typeS P/S will fit in the Protek R03 crank case

Ongaro is a modified B2104.
What I wonder then is why on AD2 and AD3 it says "O.S. Max" which is the budget model?
Are ADs not based on the premium models but the budget ones?
