You'll always get problems tuning by temp as Brandon said. I'm running a P4 plug, 2035 pipe, Byron Gen2 25% fuel. At the weekend just gone it was 27*C air temp and on a track which is between 41-44secs (for most). I managed to do 10 minute stops fairly easy. You've got to tune by sound and the amount of smoke (sound is most important).

I am just about thru a gallon on the reedy. With a 97t i can't get it to idle right. I set the idle to roughly half of the width of a 1.5 mm Allen wrench.
Also running 30% byrons and a dynamite 053 pipe. Can someone who really knows this engine give me the factory settings as I have lost my starting point. Any help would be greatly apprectiated. Thanks

If you call AE they will tell you them. I had them written down but i can't find it.

You could go flush on the needles, tune the top then get the bottom from there on. remember the hsn is the overall control of fuel going into the engine. Have you read up on the shim swap after break in ?

Do I need to bother with sealing the backplate or carb before I start this reedy for the first time? Most engines I don't bother with sealing up if they are new but figured I would ask anyway.

thanks for the help..yes was going to swap the shims out in a few more tanks..seems that its is either 2 rich or lean on the bottom..i start out with 3.25 on the bottom, and 2.5-3 on top. when i do a pinch test it dies in under 3 secs...if i richen it up, just doesnt seem to run right.. ill give them a call to get those settings..

thanks for your help..

The only thing i 'sealed' was the plastic carb 'plate' . I only used a bit of AE black grease and after 5 gallons its still good

Your settings seem like you should be in the ballpark.

Be sure to try a fresh plug, if you haven't already. I've seen too many people twisting needles and not getting anywhere with a soiled plug.

Well I broke it in with an rt4 for about a half gallon. I then switched to od97t, seems like it wants a really rich bottom. My tank is original with the the kit and has taken a beating, kinda melted on the side. Going to throw a new tank and try a p3 or p4 and see where it takes me. Thanks for all the help much appreciated. I still need to call ae and get the factory settings. Can't believe nothing is documented.

I have on hand the RE10 pipe from Losi which is in exchange a copy of the 2060, has anyone ran the Reedy with this pipe? I am more incline to buy the 2039 eventually but for this is what I have.

thoughts????

Rick your comments on this post got me to buy the Reedy engine. Its Performance wins me races. I love this engine. I have owned them all
OS Speed, RBs, Nova 21-4 and others. The Reedy 121VR is the best one.

Don't hesitate to buy this engine you will be very pleased.

i tested a sirio 2010 , rb 2045, losi re10, and a jp3, guess which works the best, the jp3 funny huh, gave me the smoothest power band, but u have to try and see, ur finger trigger might be different from others

Guys, for my website, I have a brand new Reedy .21 engine here that I'll soon install into a RC8TCE.

Any advise before I start the engine? I read about the carb sealing thing. Do I need to know more? Plugs? fuel? Breakin?

Thanks

I broke my motors in according to the manual, Run an rt4 or p4 plug(really the same thing) Seal the carb, In the CE, I would recommend going up to a 52 tooth spur, it will help with top end for the first gallon, after that, it wakes up and really screams, Any other questions just ask.

quick question because I cant find the info anywhere, Anyone know the rear bearing size in this motor? I thought its the same size as the vspec, but that one doesnt fit. Anyone use an aftermarket ceramic bearing in this motor? I bought the tko bearing 25.4 outer diameter, and it doesnt fit, using a digital mic, the reedy bearing is about a half mm smaller
