so what shims should i run?
As for the shims then engine comes with a .2 and a .3 installed and a .4 in the box. For break in I run the .2 and .3 and then after a gallon I put just the .4. Thats with 30% but it should work fine with 25%. |

We haven't determined that after run oil breaks down the putty.

So what have you determined breaks down the putty? I only ask because I have two 121's. One had the insert come apart and one did not. The one that came apart was taken care of for me by Reedy (Thanks guys, great customer service!!). If there is something I can do to extend its service life. I want to make sure I am doing it.

Meh, it happens. Thanks for the information.

The run time and durability so far has been great to me. The high temps and tune ability would be a neg for me. Its holds a tune just hard to find it sometimes. Idles forever and the gas mileage is awesome! Its great for the price, I'm going to try a different brand of fuel this weekend and see what happens.

Race tune is 240-270. So what is hot to you ?
|
The glow plug does sit slightly higher as well so pull the temp gun away from the head a little when you take the temp.
I found this out a little while ago. I was always tuning around 260 with the temp gun right on the head. Ran great even like that. |
I would not worry much about head temps and just make sure you have plenty of smoke coming out of the pipe. At the CO State Championship race there were three of us running the Reedy engine and all three of us were running head temps at 290-310 deg.

Hey guys I was breaking in the Reedy this weekend, it ran good but it started to run hot ? I had a od97t plug and running byrons gen 2 30% new springs and clutch shoes ? Any thoughts on how to get it around race tune ? I have 7 tanks through it already !
|
At proline Gas Champs, my truggy motor got to 340 because of a ripped pressure line. The motor still runs, and still have tons of pinch. This motor can take some heat.
