Chad ,
I must say after being totally confused on which engine to buy i finally narrowed it down to vspec , extech or jpx 21. I read every post on this thread (took about 2 hours) & after seeing you reply to post & your good support after the sale it made my choice much easier. i ordered the full mod .21 last night & should be getting it soon. I do have a few questions. I was thinking of running byrons gen 2, 20% Since we run it in our grp.21. Would it be o.k.? What should i do as far as break in ? Thanks very much.

Hi Romax,

Thank you for Choosing Ex Tech.. I will help you in any way I can.

You can run 20%. You will need to remove 1 head shim.

The fully modified comes partially broken in.. I would run another 4-6 tanks rich before really laying in to it..

I still think you should run 30%.. for one, more power and two, will run cooler..

thanks again..

Chad , thanks for the fast reply . I'll switch to 30%. If i'm reading right it's allready set up for 30% correct?

Chad Phillips 02-04-2009 05:35 AM

romax - yes it is shimmed for 30%..

Chad, what's the runtime like on the stock .21 in a 1/8 buggy? Need to pick up a backup/short track/club race engine here pretty soon and thinking about the unmodded Extech.

Chad Phillips 02-04-2009 07:26 AM

stock / pre run - depending on the track and if you use the 2056 pipe.. 10+ minutes..

I just got a modded .24 for my 8ight-t 2.0 and am using the Trinity 2013 pipe getting 12+ minutes on it. I am looking for the Big Boy, anyone know where they are in stock? I've seen this pipe on a friends ExTech .21 and it's helped the power band and run time.

If they aren't in stock at Amain you may have to give Chad a call and see if he can hook you up.
