I found this advice really holds true, I have been running Extech Motors for the last 3 years. All there saying is don't always think HSN first, making a small adjustment on Low end will usually bring it back in to tune.

Thanks for clearing that up... I agree a properly tuned top and improperly tuned bottom can cause some run problems.. The engine has to be ballanced..

Thanks for the info on run time.. I guess 9 minutes will have to be good enough.. I'm running sportsman and we only run 15 minute mains at my track so 10 isn't much help, but state series runs 20 minute mains, and that's what i was hoping for..

Yep this happened to me yesterday. I needed more power and went with the high. Didnt work. Went back to the original setting I had on the high turned the low and then the high and viola. All the power I could handle.

Oh I forgot to say. Snapped yet another cooling head. I am done searching or using an extech head. I just put a nova head on it and called it a day.

Damn I hope I don't have the trouble you have with cooling heads..

It looks like you run a bulldog body so you will be good. My motor doesn't even have a scratch on it because the body protects it. And I am loving the Extech .21

my ex tech cooling head broke off yesterday at the end of our 3rd qual...no wrecks either...it just plain snapped off....I put a nova P5xl head on it, so we will see how it cools, but the ex tech heads are most certainly a pos

O'donnell makes some nice cheap cooling heads for them, and you can get them in 5 colors i think.

I've read this problem on this thread a few times, and honestly it scares me considering I picked up one of the last ones.. It also surproses me, because Trinity heads have always been known for how well they cool.. I hope this is related to a certain batch of engines..

:lol:@ going down front straight made left turn , cooling head kept going straight  Its funny cause I never had this problem and I never heard of it till I read this forum.

The 2 heads that I have broke so far did not come from jumping or rolling. Both times they were on a straight away.

if i am running the extec 21 in a truggy am i better off using the 2057 pipe or the baseball bat
also what size restrictor would you recommend

Teufel Racing 04-02-2010 02:19 AM

Tix,

I usually run the bat pipe just about everywhere and it has become my go to pipe. Some guys have had good luck with others. Not sure on the '57, might work out better.

I usually run the 8mm in the carb and have ran the 7mm, not sure which one is better as I seem to get just about the same ammount of run time with both. Don't think there any smaller ones that fit unless you go to a different carb setup. I could be off on that though as I thought the GRP ones looked like they might fit, but never got around to trying them.
