Congrats on the great finish. What size carb restrictor are you using in yours? And what pipe are you running?

NitroOB4You 09-14-2009 01:42 PM

Thx :) 7mm restrictor Sirio 2057 exhaust. It's a little softer on the bottom, but opens up big on top and gets much better mileage than the 2013. I am not using the "spacer" that comes with the exhaust system.

Cool thanks for the help trinity had the stuff on there site. Gonna be getting the big boy pipe this week. Theres a few guys that run them here at our track with that combo and straight haul.

Hi, im looking for a new engine for my buggy and since i love sirio i found this one interesting. I already have a sirio 2057 pipe so i'll use that one but should i go with or without the "spacer" between the pipe and the manifold? What difference does it actually make?
And yeah, how does this engine like 25% o'donnel? Would it work just as good as with 30% or should i get some 30% fuel?

/Martin

As I understand it, the extension should give a tad more bottom end repsonse. I choose to not run it only because being in a MBX6, things are tight enough already. It would be tough to get it in, I think. As far as fuel, I've only ever run 30%. I would imagine if you're comfortable with your tuning skills, it would be fine to use 25%, only you might experience very slight temp increases. Ideally, the E.T mills are shimmed for 30% though, so you should also take that into consideration.

Yeah, talked to Chad @ trinity and he told me to remove .1mm on the shimming to run 25%.
Btw, won't i get a bit longer runtime with 25%?
Seems like a great engine but i read earlier in the thread that you should stay away from after run oil be course the silicone could come if you did, is that really true?

NitroOB4You 09-15-2009 04:20 AM

True or not I won't argue, lol. But I can say that I don't use any. Instead, I simply empty my tank at the end of the day, then bump it on the box a few times to burn out the remainder of fuel. Gary from GMK has mentioned that his Afterlife ARO is silicone safe, however, so you would have at least that option. I would stay away from MMM, WD40, and the like. While they may be fine for non ramped crank engines, they will ( in my personal experience ) eat the silicone.

Okay heres a dumb question. Just dropped the extech into my 8T and need to hook up the throttle servo. the ball isnt lined up. Do I just loosend the screw at the end of the slide pull and rotate to where i need it? sorry for the newb question. this is the first non rtr nitro that i have built.

That's it man loosen uo the set screw rotate it around and retighten, with a losi you may also need to loosen the carb pinch bolt and turn the carb just a little so that it clears the center diff-just don't overtighten the pinch bolt and you will be golden

Cool thanks will get it done today. Can't wait to run this bad boy tthis weekend! Just need to pickup my pipe and my bump box will be here thursday.:batman:

i was wondering if someone could help me on what carb restrictors fit my motors.i have a fully modded extech .24 and one of the trinity adam drake .21 thanks darrell

Trey7 09-26-2009 03:10 PM

as far as the extech goes you don't need any restrictors for that motor. They have tested that motor and found the 8.0mm restrictor to be the best. I think if you try something thing different you will hurt the performance of the motor. But in case you want to try anyways I have heard the the werks restrictors will work. Me personally, I would leave it alone. I rune the race prep extech .24 and average 9 1/2 min to 10 1/2 min depending on the conditions.

NitroOB4You 09-26-2009 04:15 PM

Werks venturis. I'm using a 7mm. I can push 9:30 at my track.

LVBaja 09-28-2009 11:26 AM

Werks or Orion Alpha venturies will work in the Extech engines, if you can find them anywhere. A-Main Hobbies had the 7mm Orion Alpha venturies for a little while; not sure whether they still have any in stock.
