After pitting for you at the Twister, and watchin' your truck, listening to it, the idle, all that, I AM SOLD!!! on the .24 Extech, my sis and Dad both bought them as well. Im going to sell all of my trucks, maxxs, savages, Losi everything, and get me the new 2.0, and the .24 is goin in there too! Such a pimp motor, and this thread is only helping me choose! BTW, Tear em' up at Phoenix! I just got in a back up .24 pre run from A-main yesterday. As far as My flight / trip to phoenix..Well they told me over the phone it was okay, at check in okay....40 minutes prior to boarding they said no go as the possible residue of fuel in the tank, lines and motor may ignite..whatever. See ya at the trac...Wise choice on your future new set-up that new 2.0 looks hooked up on the track. |

all the .21's show on back order
|
My guess would be A-main has the engines, but they have to fill their back orders first before they put any remaining up for grabs.
|
Just opend up the ET .24 PR and with the glow out it seems to have a higher than normal slop at TDC. It moves about 1/16 of a turn plus when at top dead center. If you have the fly wheel on and look at the clutshoe pin and turn the flywheel, it moves 1/2 to 3/4 of an "Hour"
I do not recall any other motor I have purchased having that much slop including my last .24 ET pre-run motor. In fact the one with 3 gallons I have doesn't have that much now, in fact it has no noticable slop at all !!!! Just wondering if anyone else seems to have that much slop in there motors that they recently received. Got a PM into Chad, I am sure he will handle it appropriately for me. |

Well I put a glow in there and wa-lah no slop...
I didn't think they would have shipped it if there was a problem. It is nice to have another bad azzz motor for a back - up! |

I did the same thing. thought something was wrong with the motor. motor is slop free with the plug in and idles better than any motor I have ever run. Now that have everything sealed up it's got power everywhere. took me a while to get the feel of how it likes to be tuned, but it's a MF FM 24 beast now!! I can't wait to get it on big track so it can stretch it's legs!! |

Agreed on the best motor part. I did not seal my current motor and have had no tuning problems per say. I am sealing this one up everywhere and I bet I get better run times as I can probably restrict the fuel flow a bit more. Still getting 8 + min with a jp-3 and a long header. My Bigboy is on b/o from my LHS. |
carb restrictors

Yup,
Those two are the only ones I know work. I thought the GRP's might, but never got around to checking. Only other option would be to swap out carbs to a Rossi based or OS and then use those restrictors, not sure if it would be worth doing though. |
ok buddies ...was just curious ...amain out of most of the good ones ...but thats what peoples around here were telling me thanks

Stock .24
Chad a couple of my friends bought stock .24's. Are they also shimmed for 30%?

Yes sir they are..

I just keep leaving messages. can you please give me a call I want to race family hobbies this weekend. You can also email [email protected] Thanks Again.... |
Just an note to validate what others have said....
I spoke with Chad today and all I can say is the customer service he and Trinity provide is second to none! Thanks for your help Chad! |

Finally got to running the Trinity again since early December of last year. Was waiting on a new cooling head to arrive since mine broke off earlier this year.
Well not even two gallons on the motor and the crank has snapped. Friend with Siro CL7B snapped his Sirio also and he had close to two gallons. Chad can you take care of this issue for me or am I just out of luck? Do I need to talk Toni? |
Another great weekend on the FM .21. Motor has power at all levels, and great fuel mileage to boot. Thanks Trinity for helping me put my buggy 7th in the A-Main at the Spring Fling $$ Race!!
|
Another great weekend for me also.
I ran the .24 pr and qualified 8th for the A-main out 56 Truggy Racers. The top 8 were all within 16 seconds of each other in 5 min qualifiers. I had a dnf as a rear arm snapped on my X2....never had that one happen before! |
Hey chad thanks for the quick reply. I pm'd you back again thanks buddy.

FYI- For those that don't know, Trinity is moving to FL. From what I can gather, Chad is going along for the ride. Now I gotta pay fuel HAZMAT fees :(...lol. Anyway Good luck :) , hope all goes well for you all :)
I've got a (approx) 5 Gal E.T that I've been having issues with. Upon removing it from the RC it was in, I found the pipe was badly flattened on the underside. This was at the end of last season. Until today, I havn't really had a good chance to test it out with a new pipe. Basically, on the old system, I would run maybe 1/2 tank and then POP...goes the plug. Went through this with quite a few plugs, figuring it was a tune problem. Well, today I gave it one more chance with a new pipe. I ran ( so far ) only 1 tank through it, and had to richen 'er up a bit on bottom, but other than that it ran the full tank...not even a spec left in the tank when it flamed! I'm 99% sure now that the pipe was the problem and it is all good now. Hopefully soon I'll have a chance to get 'er back on the track for some "real" testing :) |

Went and ran the Silver State race,
Motors ran well with the Big Boy pipes and the 8mm carb insert. Was still getting over 10 minutes of run time and had plenty of power. Was running the '08 tuned versions. I did have one of my heads brake while there in the mains. Didn't notice it until the main was over. The pipe in the buggy had a couple of good sized dents in it, but didn't seem to affect the performance. If anything I may have gained a little topend and lost a little bottom end. Over all, couldn't be happier with the motors. They have never let me down. |
Big Boy on my .24
Well I just put on the Big Boy for the first time...Mixed results for me..Overall positive.
It definatley woke up the bottom even more, not that it needed it. Idled better, and I was able to lean it out a bit more bottom and top. It seems that I lost some top over the JP-3 with a mid-range header combo. The top never seemed to peak and almost always seemed rich, as it would slightly sputter around the top..not a lean bog sputter. It also ran quite a bit cooler even though it was leaner. Has anyone else notice the top end sputter. Maybe I need to lean it out some more? It already is about 3/4 turn in from flush on the hsn... Is the BB pipe known to shave a bit off the top??? |
what plugs are people running for humid warm conditions w/ 30%?

My Trinity FM .21 just keeps getting better and it gets some fuel through it. We brought home a win today at Bullet Town R/C. Motor never missed a beat. Running a Dyn 086 pipe and the motor just rips from bottom to top. Pitted at 8:30 minutes. One of the best engine choices I have ever made!!!
|
Has anyone tried o'donnel plugs in the mill?
|
Big Boy Update
Well, I leaned the top nearly 6 hours and richened the bottom about 2 hours. It rips hard and I could probably lean the top another hour as my temps were barely hitting 185 - 190.
As far as the O'donnel plug question, I have not used them. I use the OS P4. No problems with them & they easily last me 2 gallons plus. Also I read on this board if you use OS then you need to stick with them as the thread pattern is slightly different and another brand may not seal completely after using the OS brand. |
