A perfect example was this past weekend at the O Donnell Summer Championships 2 day race at Revelation raceway. Not only did my D8 Hot Bodies buggy perform amazing but my Ex-Tech II .21 was flawless. 3 rounds of 7 min quail and amazing runtime no pits even with the free lap my Ex-Tech never lost consistency!!! This landed me in the A-Main for sunday. 30 min Main and after a 1st lap pile up I worked my way through the pack of 14 and ended up 4th. Motor came off at 189 degrees and was absolutly flawless. Runtime, performance and power. If anyone needs any advice on motors or any questions please feel free to come on over to the Hot Bodies pits and hang out.

I was in the same race as my teammate Joey and finished right behind him in 5th.. That 1st turn was a bad one in the Main took me from 7th to 14th.. ouch... I have always been a big fan of these engines as they just seem hold a tune and always run.. A 30 min main is rough I went from 14th to 5th do to the fact that alot of other racers were flaming out and the Ex Tech just kept going and it came off the track at 195 .. Joey and I were also getting 8 to 9 mins at Revelation which is unheard of.
Like Joey said if anyone needs any help you can find us at Revelation, Hot Rod Hobbies..

I have a FM .24 and it crazy fast tons of bottom end.. Depending on your track i would either suggest a .24 standard or per-run or the FM .21.. either one is a great choice for a truggy and i find myself switching back and forth between the two..

It looks like a stronger cooling head on the new 2009 spec engines and some engraving on the case. Has anything been done that's going to change the way they performed over the previous versions? It sounds like the other engines performed well, so I'm not sure any performance improvements were necessary.

Thanks for the feedback Joey. Sounds like you really like the Extech engine. What else have you tried? Do you run truggy too (.24 or .21)? What fuel are you using with your Extechs - Platinum blend or Monster Horsepower blend? Are you using the Extech tuned pipe?

Ive tried EVERYTHING!!! hahaah I love these Ex-Techs you are right... They have not let me down and now I finish all my races!!!
I do run Truggy D8T and yes I have the Ex-techII .21 Plenty of power and the runtime is over 10 min . I was getting 11 min of run time at Revelations raceway. For my Driving style the .21 is perfect. Platinum 30% and Extech tuned pipe. You wont be disapointed, if you ever get out to Rev in So Cal stop by the HB pits.

Thanks again for the feedback. I'll be at Revelation Raceway on October 25th for the 7th round of the JBRL Series. Are you racing that series?

where to buy on-line an extech I rod ????????????????

Trinity site don't exist anymore..
Epic doesn't seem to sell anything on their site..?

I am getting pissed off by the fact I don't seem to get parts
easily for this engine..

do the extech II rods fit in fact ?????

1armed1 07-03-2009 11:00 AM

I replaced my rod about 1.5 gallons ago, the motor(fm .21) now has about 4 gallons on it.
The bushing flaked out of the rod, I now have a paper weight.
It took out the rod, crank and rear bearing.
Everything else looks ok but now I have to decide if I want to drop 200 into it to get it going again.

I don't know if it was a faulty rod or what but I'm not to happy with how long that rod lasted.:flaming:
