grp rods
i have 2 new rods for sale in the fs thread tuned 21 and sport 21
|
last sunday was tuning for maxuim run time (.21 tuned version) was running a OS 2050 max run time was 8.5 minutes is that decent for a GRP?
|
no! is your track large and wide open or is it medium or small and tight? it also depends on your driving style! never heard of anyone running a 2050 with a tuned grp, so that could be the reason. try a dynamite 053, novarossi 9853, or the grp 2053 for fuel mileage.

Has any one tried an RB 2045? Ive got a dynamite 053 and a RB 2045 with 192mm header. Which pipe would give better fuel millage?

Will give that a go |
I just freshend up my buggy sport .21 GRP with a new tuned rod and tuned crank. Im goin to be using the 7mm restrictor, all i want is to be able to go 10min on a tank in my RC8B. Will the dynamite 053 give better runtime than the RB 2045? I think i was getting around 9:30 with the 053, non tuned rod and crank. I know runtime depends on so much more than just what pipe i run, but i think with a proper tune i should be able to go past 10min. I just want to see what kind of runtime i can get from this motor.

I noticed a hairline type fracture on the outside of the sleeve on my tuned .21(where it faces the crankcase not the piston). It is a very light fracture not much more than a scratch and it may have been there for 3 months or it could have happened yesterday. Not sure. But given the pressures and temps in that area kinda want to change it out. My questions -
1. I know the piston/sleeve for the tuned version is like hens teeth but is the P/S on the sport version identical? 2. Is the older Ninja P/S identical? 3. Has anyone found an alternative P/S yet? It still has boatloads of compresson and has been such a great motor that i don't really want to just thrash it like it is and risk it going pop at an inopportune moment. Nor do I want to leave it on the shelf as a book end! Your thoughts are appreciated. Cheers, Mike. |
I have two new tuned piston and sleeves in stock, let me know if you are interested.

I have a brand new sleeve (piston was damaged) I'd be willing to part with.

We know Hyper:rolleyes:
They do still make plugs, so there may be a chance that they will make motors again. Then again, Mario Rossi did leave to another company. |

|
Oh, I thought you didn't know what happened. There are still entire engines out there. My local hobby store has two brand new in the box. The problem is, if by chance you have a rod break or something that is repairable, there are next to no parts out in the market.
That's the thing that turn so many people off from buying a GRP engine. |
I need some help when I let off the gas it runs on as if the servo ain't closed but someone else told me my low end was too lean? Help !

Does this happen after a full throttle run? I had a similar issue at the end of the straight. The cause was a rich low end with a lean top end.

Most likely you are running it to lean on the HSN.
What others call problematic is what I call precise. The GRP carb is the best out there, but takes some getting used to. |

Start by leaving the LSN where it is.

Tuned P/S alternatives
Just want to give a bump up (and refresh some unaswered questions that TRArena asked some posts ago) about P/S sets aleternatives for the .21 tuned GRP.
Since i planned to completely renew this engine to use it as my jolly joker for some races (my actual picco does not perform as well as the GRP), i managed to find here in italy all the main spares (bearings, rod, pin, o-rings) bought from various sites, except for an original GRP P/S. Instead i found availables some Ninja MR and Falcon piston-sleave sets and i want some credit that it'll be identical to the OEM GRP one. I compared the technical sheets of these engines and they are all the same. I also wanted to give GRP a call but i found this thread and would appreciates infos from you well prepared guys. Thx |
GRP Compatible...
Check out the following website...

tecnopower-motor.com It's not even a direct answer of my question about piston/sleave sets alternatives, as i only needed to know if Ninja MR's or Falcon B5's are the same as original GRP's ones. Maybe it was an invitation to directly contact you tecnopower..... Anyway just waiting for someone who has info about eventual differences between the ditto P/S sets. Thanks again Fabio |

I've checked out too and glad to know obout a new engine manifactuer, but i did not undestand how Tecnopower is related to old GRP engines, even if I see a similar one on the home page.

Does anyone have a Ninja/GRP engine tooling kit they want to sell? Thanks!

Does anyone have a Ninja/GRP engine tooling kit they want to sell? Thanks! Noticed a couple piston/sleeves on carolinarc a couple weeks back; kicking myself for not ordering them now :( |
grp
the only diffrence between the grp 21 and the grp based ninja 21 is the grp has a silicone filled crank ninja doesnt ninja has a little more agressive porting with more of a fang cut on the ports as the grp doesnt some of the early grps had the same porting as the ninja i think the early ones were left over ninja p/s they used up gor grp other wise every thing will fit each other dont know about the boss line up hope this helps same thing with the 28 engines also

Hi Guys,
Sorry not to be so reactive, but here some update. I have been quite busy to try and setup this new project manufacturing my own engines. Important to know that TecnoPower has NO connection whatsoever with GRP! First challange was to get everything together again since when GRP burned, all the plans and many other things burned with it too, so we had to start from almost scratch..., except for some inventory left at their main supplier. Our first challenge was to first reproduce the .21 buggy engine. We have started our production and can give you the following information about the spare-parts:
I am sorry not to have all the knowledge of the whole line of engines GRP has produced before, but will try to answer the questions which are placed here. For the US market, I am in contact with Mugen USA who can get spares and glowplugs when they want if needed. Rody |
grp
so are you guys making the copy of grp 21 engines dont quite understand are the rods going to be the same as far as the upper rod hole not having the brass bushing thanks for your time
