If you are really patient, no actually you will have a hard time heating the block up with a hair dryer.
Good Luck! |
well how much is a heat gun?

Thanks Russel. Can you tell me what the max safe temp should be? I normally run the engine to about 220-230.

A heat gun should only be about $20 at any hardware store.

How do you like it? I have the .28 and think it's too much power for me. I was considering the .25 next, but am now thinking to simply stick with a .21. How long can you go on a tank of fuel with the .25?

Good Luck! Not true I have use hair dryers to great success for preheating engines. I use a cheap 1875 watt hairdryer set on high it will get the engine up to about 180F which is plenty for starting. |

after seeing what kind of temp i've been running compared to what some of the PRO's run we are way to cool, jason Halverson runs motors at 260 and then some, i ran the 5 ports at that temp and they are TOPS:nod: same with the 7 ports. 230 to 260 and enjoy
|
Lanerbrainer a hair dryer will work, but remember to wrap the head in aluminum foil and if you do use a hair dryer leave it on the engine for awhile to allow the heat to soak into the block.
Snookums, I personally like to run the Go engines in the 230 range but a temp of 260 shouldn't do any damage. When I have a fresh engine It will usually run in the 250-260 because of the metal pinch. Been breaking in my 3port for atlanta, just a note to you guys, even though it has less pinch then the 5-7 ports its still finicky, conditions were not ideal, (cold, raining) but it has probably been the most difficult Go engine I have had to break in. |
Ran my go 21 5 port for the first time today. Got it slightly used from a local shop owner. I had to change my clutch shoes and i saw a mark on the piston. I only broke 200 degrees once today. It still runs fine, do i just keep running it?
|
Just keep running it, but lean the HSN out 1-2 hours, you need to run the engine over 200f or you will put added stress on the connecting rod, shoot for the 220-230f range.

Not to take away from Go Tech motors and your work but next meeting we will see :D Darrens wheel fell off in his Savage while he was leading the day in MT, so yeah reliability was the key factor. The finish of MT first round was .8 of a second with a shunt deciding the outcome in favour of the Savage with LRP power, but it was a rubbing is racing incident, one of the best MT Races ive ever seen. Second round, Darrens wheel fell off "While in the lead" and Myles Go Tech Revo cruised around for an easy win. That motor in Deanos car has some serious power, never seen it go so fast before, hes a great driver no doubts. Buggy class was a great win for Go Tech motors, thats no doubts at all there, his consistancy and lap times prove that those motors are serious bussiness. I was racing in the A-Main myself, on a very rough track and with my Modifed OS in my MBX5R i was having a hard time catching him, mind you im just and average driver in my first year of racing.Once again the championship winner was not there and the next best driver was interstate and come 3rd over all in the titles. Not to take wind out of you sails Mark but i think regardless of the results you have slightly overglorified Go Tech considering the facts, time will tell. If they are that good maybe ill take My 5 port out of my tool box and stick it back in my car :] |
I would have to agree with Massive a win is a win. Gen reaper I understand your feelings that the top driver wasn't in attendance but to me that proves the engine more. The fact is that the driver is more important, and it seems that you understand that as well. I am sure the top driver is probably sponsored by another engine company and no matter what engine he runs he would probably end up winning. But what about the Go drivers if there not top drivers they pulled off a win maybe not against the best, but some of the best. It was as Massive said, it was the Go's reliability that pushed them to a win against equal competition.

Regardless of what you think 3 wins and 3 TQ's in a race day in 3 sepperate classes with the same brand engine.. If that dosent say anything then what will ? No wind lost here : ) Not to mention Myles cooper won MT in the State titles with the same engine and Eric Gagne came second in tryggy SA state titles with a Go 5 port... The writing is on the wall , id also suggest if you have somnething against me in particular please have the decentcy to pm me with your thoughts as opposed to bashing a world class product on its own thread, because this is what it looks like. :D

Seeing as i am one of the people being mentioned ( the buggy guy ) i felt i may as well comment one this. Brad, as you may or may not know I have run my RC8 3 times at morphettvale and have 2 TQ's, with 2 wins and a 2nd place... you may remember i won the first meeting against foordy, tq'd the meeting that jarrod ran and came 2nd... So the car, engine, driver combo has been tested against "the best drivers".... not to bad for a part time gas racer... Anyways, the product is good, for a gas newcomer i have been very pleased with the ease of tuning and support thats around for these engines. Keep up the good work guys. Glenn |

Either way, any race could be written off as being ...ooohh only because this or that or whatever...
