Hey Grizz1..just ordered a huge load of O'Donnell 97T plugs from towerhobbies..(FYI folks they just dropped the price from $4.79 to $2.99 a plug..lower if you buy in bulk.) I see they now list an 87T plug.. says for 1/8 scale with 25% or higher nitro(doesn't specify on or offroad though).you or anyone else tried these against the 97T's.Not noticed these before just wondered how they measure up?

man thats cheep, I'v got enouph supply but at that price maybe I should stock up on an expendable item............. and also give the 87T a try too.

rider313 03-24-2011 06:22 AM

I have heard from some the new 87T plug is recommended for 30% but users could not tell a difference from the 97T.

grizz1 03-24-2011 01:54 PM

Cheers Gizz. That is a hot price. The 77T's are good for 25% in the cooler weather. I haven't seen the 87's before. Think I will just stick with the 97T and 77T as they are a fantastic plug in the GO motors. Been running the 97T in the new GXII and it loves it.

Gizmatron 03-25-2011 02:01 AM

Yeh I just ordered 60 of the 97T as they worked out at €2 a piece with delivery and here they cost €8.50-9 each..so I'll resell most of that to pay for the spare MG66 I just picked up from redvet79..

fastboy 03-25-2011 02:07 AM

i tried to order but it will only let me put maximum of 9 in the basket?

Yes, it's a funny system. If you wanted say 27, you have to enter 3 seperate orders of 9.

There are also quantity specials where you can order like 12 items with a discount of .30c on each item for a fixed price.
If you want more than 12, just order again and go up in multiples of 12 at a time.
Weird, but the price is good.

Gizmatron 03-25-2011 05:35 AM

Yeh kinda weird you can't just add 15 to the basket but grizz1 is right ..click add to basket then change the number to 9 .then go back to the page with the plug and click add to basket again..you will have a second item you can upgrade to 9 again..do this as many times as you need..unnecessarily complicated system but at $2.99 a plug who cares..too good a deal to pass up..I could fund my entire season selling plugs at that price :nod::nod:

Thanks guys. Daniel Ornelas and I had a long discussion on how to expand in Mexico, on the rv trip back from rc pro in porter. This is the direct result of that discussion. I agreed to send some combos and motors to Mexico, and Daniel is managing the team and the sales down there. Expect to see more results like this! ;);););)

carb settings

hi guys,
finally got my new crankcase for my GX3R I got from a mate. Only thing is, I never received a manual for it, and I would like to know carb settings, I am running 25% nitro, and one shim. When I start the engine, it revs like anything then dies, so I want to get the carb setup before I damage anything. Also, does anyone have a electronic copy of the manual for this engine?
Thanks
Michael

They don't come with a manual as such Michael.
Go to our Tech Tips section at the GO Racing NZ web site. All the info you need for tuning from scratch is there. The article starts with run-in procedure and then covers tuning and general info after that. Here is the link -

http://go-racing.vpweb.co.nz/Tech-Tips.html

Shim wise, the stock set up is .5mm of shim stack
Normally 1 x alloy .3mm shim and 2 x .1mm copper shims (or sometimes 1 x .2mm copper shim)
A lot of us find the motors run really well (once fully broken in) with .4mm total shim stack.
You say you only have one shim ? Sounds a little strange.

Well - got invoiced, and paid for my GXII order today (gulp ), so it looks like things are happening.
They are still waiting on the new packaging, which is now due on the 30th.
If it hasn't arrived by then I think they will ship in the old GX boxes - I hope so, as I have customers banging on my door daily for their new motors.
