1. I can't seem to get the carb off (yes I took the screw out). It wiggles a little but not much.

2. What is the best way to get those little ring clips out of the piston? So I can change the rod.

3. What is the best stuff to use to clean the entire engine inside and outside. It has a lot of gunk built up on the outside and was wondering what I could soak it in.
if it wiggles and you cant get it out, it's probably overtightened and the metal jacket around the carb base has a little bit of a pinch in it. Make sure you seal up the carb base w/ some engine sealant (I use racers edge) when you reassemble.

To get the carb out:
1. Put the screw back in the way it was, but only turn it a few threads in.
2. LIGHTLY tap on the screw head w/ a screwdriver handle, so the pinch half on the opposite side pushes out, then remove the screw.
3. Use your fngers or needle nose pliers to remove the pinch half.
4. Put the bolt in the other side, HEAD FIRST (i.e. backwards), and lightly tap on the bolt with the screwdriver handle.
5. Repeat step 3 on the other side and inspect both pinch halves for damage or seal tears.
6. carburetor should twist free, using just your hands. Twist, then pull it out.

If the seals are damaged, you can replace or use carb sealant. We have a few of these seals, but we stock the entire pinch bold w/ the seals already on it in quantity. The logic is that the seals are sometimes difficult to get on w/o tearing, due to their small size. Plus the entire bolt WITH the seals is set at less than $5 US, so it's cost effective to replace the whole thing. Part number is GO-1900: "Carburetor Setting Pin for Pro"

Now... off to break in a fresh GX-7R combo. Been running 5 ports exclusively, so opened a GX-7R EFRA 2072 combo that had shipping damage on the box (contents ok). So, I grabbed a long LSN, a new GO FLYWHEEL, and some new GO CLUTCH SHOES and SPRINGS and put the whole thing in my agama.

Now if I could just find my heat gun. ha.

Thanks for the help. I did get the carb off. I just wanted ask for advice before I broke it. I sometimes get a little aggravated and then next thing I know I break something. Now the rear bearing is being a pain.

Have fun with new engine.

After everything is taken out thats rubber (o-rings, lsn, hsn, carb neck, etc) put it in the oven at 350F for 10 minutes. Then use gloves and a wooden dowel to pop it out.

I like the dynamite 086 high end pipe for my 7 port. I run the 007 low end dynamite pipe on my 3 port.

In a buggy, yeah. I might end up trying an 053 just to see if i like it better, but i'm real happy with the bottom and top end with the 086.

You will love the 7 Port in the buggy Trey. The 5 is a lot of fun, but can be too much some times. The 7 is plenty powerful but smoother, plus the mid and top will blow your socks off. Run 1.1 springs - the 7's like to spool up a little before the clutch hits. It just suits their porting and power band better.

Best pipe I have run on the 7 Port is definitly the 2072, but the 053 is an excellent choice if you already have one. They are a mid - top end pipe, which is right where the 7 Port excels, so it is a good match.

2 alum, 2 composite, 2 green springs 2 gold springs standard setup. I might try stiffer springs on the clutch and a different pipe, but how it is now is pretty damn good. I know most people like to run the 086 on the 5 port but i really like how it pulls away from the pack on the straights. My only problem is getting it slowed down for the curve without hitting the brick wall, haha. My first time at Leisure Hours indoor track i kept hitting the wall on the driver side of the car, but half way through i finally got the hang of it and figured out where to apply the breaks in order to keep from grinding the left side off
