2072 pipe is the best all round pipe for this motor, IMO

Go to www.go-racing.co.nz and click on "Tech Tips" from the homepage menu.
This will take you to run-in, tuning and maintenance tips for the GO motors.

Being an older motor, check and see what sort of low speed needle you have fitted - long or short, as this will make a big difference to the tuning.

Open the throttle slide fully. If the lsn has come out of the receiver jet on the right hand side of the throat, you have the short needle. If the tip of the lsn is still in the receiver jet with the slide fully open, then you have the long needle.
Short needle will tune like any other motor, but the long needle you will need to follow the instructions on the web site (especially regarding the high speed needle settings).
Any problems send me a PM or email me at [email protected]

Also being the older gen, make sure to heat it well before each start to releave the metal pinch. The new GX has metal pinch too, and still needs heat, just that it's not as tight as the older models.

Default GX 5R in onroad car

Hiya...

was looking for a engine with alot of torque for a serpent 966....hence decided and got a gx 5r. Want to know what manifold would suit the 2072 pipe that came in the combo as the manifold came with it is suitable for rear mounted not for onroad configuration ? Anyone tried this engine with suitable on road manifold and pipe ? What carb have u used in this engine as with the engine carb i cannot access the idle screw !!!!!!

Thanks

thanks
