Go-Tech Engines Thread
It helps keep a more regular pressure in the tank when you refill it so you don't get a sudden pressure increase as you snap the lid shut after refueling.

+1+1 Thanks for the info, mine seems to be doing the flame out once i come in for re-fuel or sometimes when i set off for a practise lap, as the tune seems pretty good
Also how do i know if i am too lean on the lsn needle, what should i look out for as at the moment i have screwed the lsn needle quite a long way and not really adjusted the hsn (maybe a min at the most) and I still dont seem to be hitting my top speed by the end of the straight on the track. any suggestions please??
Thanks in advance

Use the pinch method on Grizz's site listed on the first post of page 776 to set the LSN and idle gap then you should be tuning with the HSN for top speed, then revisit the LSN for fine tuning. Go to the site I just said and read the tech tips, it sounds like your confused on how to tune these. Grizz also put a couple good guides in the Tuning bible stickyed to the top!
Hey guys I have a GO .21 I am getting a resizing done at rayaracing...well my question is how do I tell if the crank is ok? Is there a test I can do? The bearings are great and there is no play in the conrod.
is there something I can do to refresh the crank?

it is a very helpful artical.....heres the link again...http://go-racing.vpweb.co.nz/Tech-Tips.html.......also make sure its not a clutch issue. sounds like you might need to lean the hsn a tad, not much, just a hour or so(1/8th of a turn). if that does not help you, let me know what motor you have. i must have missed it somewhere down the line.

how many gallons on engine? is this the first time getting a pinch? myself would just buy new (very reasonable priced), i have seriously found mine runs awsome with very little pinch, as long as rod has no play (can make it hard to tune). if there is no play on rod to crank, i would not worry about it to much. a bad rod is what causes bad crank wear!

back to the drawing board for me then. I must be doing something wrong setting up my tune

set both needles back to FLUSH!.....then fire the motor and let it warm up for only 30 sec......then pinch the fuel line close to the carb inlet!...if it idles up alot, then your idle gap is to big...if it dies right away then its too small...it should only burp up alittle in rpms and take about 7 sec to die...it doesnt hav to be exactly 7 sec but not over 7....that will get your idle gap set so you can START tuning it!...
now when you fire it, if it doesnt idle just lean the LSN 1/12(1 hour) @ a time till it idles smooth and not too high!...THEN you adjust the HSN and hour at a time till you get the top speed you want without getting too hot!..you will probally have to richen the lsn alittle after you get the hsn tuned cause it has a DIRECT affect on the LSN!...

this would be the first pinch
does the crank from the mx5 work on the .21 5port +2 pro
I was thinking of changing the rod and crank...i would like to avoid changing the crank but everyhting else is new on this engine except the piston rod and sleeve..so I was planning on a pinch, new rod and crank (maybe). my total should be like 55$ bucks to revive this engine (without crank)
the rod does not have any play, so I can pinch it for 20 bucks and go from there...i guess...and buy a mx5 later.
I really wanna try this engine out when my vspec wears out and see if i like the go engines...

I just received it from a guy here on rc-tech he told me that the engine was starting to become difficult to tune.
