So it's Associated Truggy your running...whats the stock gearing ? clutch/spur ?

is there a higher tooth spur option ?? as I don't like to change clutch teeth as it is too big a jump.

for example Mugen has 3 spur options 44T, 46T Stock and a 48T

I worked out for myself and have written a gearing table in my set up folder for quick referance;

48/13 = 3.6-1
46/13 = 3.5-1 stock
48/14 = 3.4-1
44/13 = 3.3-1
46/14 = 3.2-1

as you can see 13/46 to 14/46 is a big jump, there are 2 other options in between.
I usually start with stock and only realy go one side or the other from stock depending on the track layout, I'v only ever gone to 13/44 once in truggy for a certain track.

54/13=4.1-1
52/13=4.0-1
54/14=3.85-1*where you are now
50/13=3.84-1
52/14=3.7-1
50/14=3.5-1

i say just experiment and adjust as needed for your driving style and track condition, those numbers wont tell you how its going to feel on the track for what you need and when you need it. and wont tell you how to set up your clutch and diffs. numbers are for onroad racers who like to play on carpet....LOL

I was just workin out the numbers for him...I can't tell him what will work on his track, just giving him an idea wich combo is the next step in either direction to get a certain result and feel etc...and making the point that just changing bell can be detrimental and not give you what you actually need.

I'm just a little anal I guess and like to find clsest correct combo for my needs.

For all the New Zealand racers that are on this thread, you will be pleased to know your new GXII motors shipped out from the factory yesterday afternoon.
They should be available for distribution (if customs play the game) around Wednesday next week - YAHHHHHHHOOOOOOOO
The only slight catch is that they will be packaged in the old GX Series boxes, and not the new GXII packaging, which has been the hold up and is still not ready.
I figured you guys wouldn't mind the old boxes, as long as you got your motors pronto (in time for next months Auckland Champs ).
