Go-Tech Engines Thread
Inferno,
On page 776 of this thread Grizz posted a link. Go to that link and click on tech tips. In that tuning guide it says exactly whats wrong if you have a lean bog at 1/2 tank I just checked it to confirm thats where I saw it. It's in bold print about half way down the page after you click on tech tips on the left side. You actually need to richen the HSN 1/2 an hour at a time according to them as long as your Idle and LSN are set correct to begin with. You really need to go and read that guide! It's linked on the first post of page 776 on this thread!

i have a GO .21 and nova .21 plus 4, i have been messin around with both engines today and have the GO installed right now, i am still have a issue with 1/2 tank lean issue, is this high speed needle related or low end needle???, im running composit shoes with green springs and aluminum shoes with gold spring, 30% byrons fuel, 7mm restricter in carb, 086 pipe and header. can someone give me factory setting?? or is factory settings the problem with 1/2 lean issue? going to be running a med to tight track with one long straight (180 feet), would like to race the GO .21, any tipps would be great!! thanks

If it's always occuring below half a tank, I would first check your tank for leaks around the mid point seam, or is it only happeniing with the GO ?
I got my new GX5R yesterday. Today i was placing it on my Losi 8t 2.0 and i had to adjust the carb as it needs to be angled. When i finished and tried to re-screw the setting pins the screw broke!
Has anybody had the same problem?
Now i got half of the screw in the left side of the pin and i can't get it out.

Removing the carb requires the pinch bolt ends to be tapped out of the crankcase in order to get the carb to move. Pull the carb up with a twisting motion to remove it, as they can still be quite tight even after the pinch bolt ends have been removed.
Not sure how your going to get that screw out though. That could be a tricky one.
I have never come across this problem before. The pinch bolt set up on the GO's is pretty soild.

Being Stateside you will have the short needle carb (if you bought your motor from a US distributor). Are we talking lean bog out of the corners or just flat performance. The half tank or below lean bog would normally be rectified by the LSN on the shorter needle carb, and any flatness on the top end by the HSN. Unless you are really lean on the top end, then this could cause some bottom end bog too.

Doesn't give the size in the parts order book, as the pinch bolt assembly comes as a 3 pce unit. I measured one and the thread is 18mm long x 2.5mm wide if that's any help.

if non of the above helps clean out the carby body & needles
Tuning wise on the short needle version, bog like that would normally suggest the bottom end is a tad lean, but thinking a bit more about it, if it's only doing it below half a tank then I am favouring it being just a fraction too lean on the top end (as the HSN is the first needle in the fuel system to offer resistance to the fuel flow from the tank, especially as the tank level drops and it's harder to pressurize when you quickly open the throttle). If this is the case normally just richening by an hour or two will be enough to solve the problem. The top end needles are very sensitive on these motors, so going too lean on the HSN is not hard to do.
I doubt it would be the pipe. The 086 is mint on the 3 and 5 Port motors. I have never actually run one on the 7 Port, but I remember someone on here using that combination and liking it.

Hi Guys
new to go engines - just got a good deal on a barely used R21-3PT, it's one of the "cheapos" I've always wanted to try, and I have a few questions...
- Which turbo plugs are the best fit? OS-likes or Nova-likes (ie "normal" turbos)... Contradictory to what most people think, they are different
- What's the optimal shimming for 25% nitro?
- What pipes does this mill like? I have 9901, 2060, and 9886 (086) availables...
Anyone has a pdf of the instructions so I can have the part #'s and so? I couldn't find them on the go website (d'uh...)
thank you
Paul
